On May 19, 2018, at the invitation of the Baiyin City Government Office in Beijing of Gansu Province, Mr. Liu Fusheng, President of Global Photography, headed a delegation to pay a visit to Baiyin City, Gansu Province, and was given a warm reception by the leaders of the Baiyin Municipal Party Committee and Government.

Baiyin is a prefecture-level city located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and in the middle of Gansu Province. It is an important city of the Silk Road Economic Belt and a key area of the Gansu Huaxia Civilization Inheritance Innovation Zone. Integrated with the Yellow River, Stone Forest, Gobi Desert, oasis, farm villages, the city itself is a magnificent landscape. Baiyin, rich in mineral resources, is China's largest multi-variety non-ferrous metal industrial base, also called “Copper City”. However, in recent years, with the decline of mineral resources, traditional industries are facing numerous challenges. Under such circumstances, Baiyin has been vigorously advancing the optimization and upgrading of its industrial structure and the transformation of traditional enterprises. In order to respond positively to the development strategy of "Village Revitalization Strategy" and "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" proposed by President Xi Jinping, the Baiyin Municipal Party Committee and Government strive to lift the farmers out of poverty, build up brands of cultural tourism so as to boost faster development of the industry.

The delegation visited all the major scenic spots in the area, especially the Yellow River Stone Forest. It is a national geological park located on the edge of the Yellow River in the southeastern part of Jingtai County, Baiyin City. It is about 150 kilometers from Lanzhou City and was once where the movies of "Great Dunhuang" "Myth" "World’s Barn" and "Amazing Legend" were shot. The scenic area is dominated by the Grand Canyon, which is about 9 kilometers long on the side of the Yellow River. There are high stone forests on both sides of the valley, being a unique natural wonder in the Northwest China. A panoramic view of the entire canyon can be seen from the observation deck on the top of the canyon. When the magnificent stone forest landscape unfolds in front of you, you will feel the mind-blowing and unforgettable power of nature. The stone forest here is mainly composed of yellow sandstone and conglomerate. The height of stalagmites is basically about 100 meters, and some even reach more than 200 meters. It renders extravagant and tragic sense against the vast Gobi, almost comparable to the Colorado Grand Canyon in the United States.
The 2018 Yellow River Stone Forest 100-km International Marathon kicked off on May 20. Su Jun, Party Secretary of Baiyin City, together with Zhang Xuchen, Deputy Secretary of the Baiyin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Baiyin City, fired the starter pistol to start the race. Liu Fusheng, President of Global Photography, and Su Min'an, Editor-in-Chief of Global Photography, as well as leaders and officials from associations and governments attended the opening ceremony.
At 8:10 a.m., 14,000 athletes from 16 countries took part in the race and exemplified the spirit of sport, while enjoying the game among the magnificent stone forest landscape. After fierce competition, Robert from Kenya took the men’s title with a time of 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 12 seconds for 42.192 km. The second place and third place were Borgona from Kenya and Wang Tao from China. China's Lanzhou runner Hu Li took the women’s title with a time of 3 hours, 26 minutes and 22 seconds. Chinese runners Li Hongying and Zhang Yuyun won the two and three positions.
In recent years, under the guidance of the five development concepts of “innovation, coordination, green development, openness, and sharing”, local governments are actively developing ecotourism and vigorously promoting ecological civilization construction. Baiyin City will deeply implement the strategy of “Building a Strong City with Tourism” and adopt “Internet+Tourism” as the main idea for tourism development. Relying on the rich cultural heritages, tourism resources and beautiful natural sceneries, Baiyin City will actively integrate Internet into tourism industry, so as to build a well-known tourism brand and boost long-term development of local tourism and other related industries.
