The Figg & Palmer Foundation is dedicated to the loving memory of my parents, Audrey Figg, nee Palmer, and Carlton Figg.
Audrey was an eminent educationist who touched the lives of thousands of students during the course of her career. She dreamed of an India where everyone could read and write.
Carlton was a celebrated journalist. A lot of corrupt, spineless and characterless people “celebrated” when he passed.
…To fight for the right, without question or pause, to be willing to march into hell, for a heavenly cause…
This forms part of the epitaph on his grave and they accurately describe the principles he lived by.
The Figg & Palmer Foundation is not a large conglomerate or a profit making business. It is a group of like-minded individuals gathered onto a common platform to work towards two goals:
1. To establish non-formal education classes and educate as many of the estimated 140,000 out-of-school children living in the slums of Lucknow, India.
2. To establish small business-to-business and business-to-customer enterprises and provide employment to qualified out-of-work families.
Our operations and accounts will always be transparent and though we will strive to ensure all our small or micro enterprises will be self-sustaining, profitable and replicable, we do need financial support and will occasionally reach out to philanthropists for assistance.
Please consider joining our cause. Even if you cannot contribute financially, we are sure there are ways you can help even without directly working with us. So, please join our monthly newsletter and keep in touch.
We hope to build our friendship base as we reach out to as many underprivileged individuals as we possibly can.
