Tomb number TT 209 in Assasif area on Luxor's West Bank was rediscovered on Saturday 14 Jun 2014 by Spanish excavators

Recently Tomb number TT 209 in Assasif area on Luxor's West Bank was rediscovered by a Spanish archaeological mission.  The tomb was first discovered in 1904 by Sir Robert Mond, but Mond didn’t describe the tomb's architectural style or identify its occupant. The tomb was then abandoned and became buried beneath the sands. Egyptologists looked for it subsequently, but their efforts failed.
It is a very mysterious tomb, as its name had changed several times since being mentioned in A Topographical Catalogue of the Private Tombs of Thebes, by Alan Gardiner and Arthur Weigall, published in 1913.
The occupant was first known as “Hatashemro.” Then in the 1950s, he was mentioned as “Seremhatrekhyt.” Later studies revealed that Seremhatrekhyt was a title and not the occupant's name.

#Nile_felucca rides – A felucca ride on the Nile is the best way to escape the hustle on land. Almost in every city of Egypt you can get the experience on a small boat called feluka either with motor or no with sail or without. In #Luxor you can go to Banana island by felucca, in #Aswan around its islands, in #Cairo can enjoy the vicinities  on our daily trips: http://www.sharm-tours.co.uk/cairo-excursion-by-plane/

OLD CAIRO VISIT
Start from the old fortress of #Babylon, visit #Coptic_museum and then proceed to the ancient Christian churches such as #Hanging_church and finish the tour at the Synagogue of Ben Azra. All these places are located on a promenade in the middle of Cairo called “#Old_Cairo”, it is just 10 minutes walk along the district but so many to explore.

#Egyptian_Museum of Antiques in #Cairo
You could spend a month in this vast, fusty and cavernous museum and barely scratch the surface. The building of the museum constructed by a French architect was built over 100 years ago and hosts more than 120 000 artifacts.  The most famous collection of Tutankhamen includes clothes, funerary couches, golden sarcophagi and statues to canopic jars containing the boy king’s internal organs. Tut’s death mask, 11kg of solid gold with details in lapis lazuli, obsidian and quartz. Don’t miss the royal mummy room with 11 of Egypt’s most celebrated rulers laid out for the passing parade, or the animal mummy exhibit where royal pets from cats and dogs to crocodiles are preserved. The ancient Egyptian jewellery room is also astonishing.

DO YOU KNOW THAT :
There are around 100 pyramids in #Egypt, but the Great #Pyramid of Cheops in Giza is the only survivor of the seven wonders of the ancient world.  There are around 10 pyramids in Giza plateau.  The two smaller – but still huge – pyramids in #Giza are those of Khafre and Menkaure. A few steps to the east you will notice three small (20 m high) piles of rumble: the queens’ pyramids, tombs of Khufu's wives and sisters.
Although climbing the #pyramids is no longer permitted, you can walk right around them, take a camel ride between them and even go inside to the main chambers (providing you don’t suffer from claustrophobia as the entry tunnels are narrow, steep and hot).
