I'm writing an article about the new Disavow File Audit mode of Link Detox. I'm looking for an example where a manual penalty has been removed from a site by using (mostly) a disavow file. My goal is to find good links that have been disavowed and undisavow them. If you have any clients who would like to be helped with this, I'll do it for free, but they must...
1) be able to give Google Webmaster Tools access
2) be prepared for your site to be mentioned in a Link Research Tools case study
3) have had either a sitewide or partial match unnatural inbound links penalty
4) be able to provide some history about what happened to get the penalty in the first place.
Please let me know ASAP with a comment below or PM me if you have any questions.

Commenting in the disavow file is pointless. John Mueller recently said that no human ever sees the disavow file.

OK It's you last chance to get into https://www.facebook.com/groups/googlepenaltymastermind/ now. It's free, but I am making it private tomorrow. There is to much talk about PBNs - really you have to understand what the P means :) Google+ really isn't the place to talk about it!

Just a quick thank you to +Rick Lomas for advice and help in getting rid of a penalty that we picked up a few months ago - we're now back in the top half of Page 1 Google for search terms like 'Web Design Edinburgh'.

We had site wide links in the footer of all the websites that we have designed... 'Site Designed by Big Toe' type links. After removing or no-following many of these - especially on blogs with many pages - we have been reinstated with almost no loss in ranking from our original position.

Hi there,
Could anyone please comment on Linklicious, Only Wire, LinkPipeline and BacklinksIndexer?  I am interested in perhaps using one of these, but I am not sure if they fit in with modern thinking on link acquisition. I would be grateful for some advice.

Hi all, I wanted to share my own experiences of dealing with a manual penalty. In March 2014 we received a penalty as a result of using MyBlogGuest & undertook a thorough link audit which is documented in the attached post. Hopefully the resources I've listed will be useful for others in similar situations.
In March 2014, we received a manual spam penalty from Google. In this guide we'd like to share the resources that we found most useful and provide some first-hand advice.

What do you think about NoFollow links? Link Research Tools have recently released this information about NoFollow links:
"NOFOLLOW LINKS
The impact on NOFOLLOW links on search engine rankings and penalties is discussed controversially. Google published that such links would be completely ignored. We believe that NOFOLLOW links can under certain circumstances still be harmful to search engine rankings and result in manual penalties, because Google generally tries to identify spamming intents. We regularly hear from clients that their penalty was only lifted after they investigated and removed large quantities of NOFOLLOW links. From this we conclude that Google in certain cases tries to identify intents of spamming even if NOFOLLOW links are used."

So I am interested in:
a) your opinion - I'd like to hear what you think
b) if you have had a manual penalty, submitted a reconsideration request and Google have come back with some sample links that include NoFollow links, then I 100% want to hear from you!

Hey Rick,

Question for you:

Very weird thing happened with a client of a friend of mine’s… they did a reinclusion request and they didn’t pass.

Google wrote back saying the classic:

Google has received a reconsideration request from a site owner for http://www.....com

We've reviewed the links to your site and we still believe that some of them are outside our quality guidelines.
Sample URLs:
etc etc

Now he’s asking me for help, but when I go into check and go to the area where you can file for another reinclusion request the manual web spam penalty isn’t showing up in Google… so how are we supposed to get the penalty removed if we can't file for another reinclusion request? I've never seen this before...

You or anyone else ever experience this??

Thanks for the great insights! Glad to know I'm not the only one who has seen this happen before. Working away on doing an updated Google Disavow List and will try to keep active on the link removals for sure.

Penguin Recovery: Should You Be Removing Links or Just Disavowing?
If you've been hit by Penguin, do you need to remove all your unnatural links, or is it enough to use Google's disavow tool?

SEO is much like blind-folded ping pong when Google is your opponent. And by that I mean only we are blind folded.

Can't wait to see how this new game plays out.
Anyway, I moved on to PPC and local business. FaceBook.
Google has a gazzilion more dollars than I do, and therefore all the time in the world. So, hell, I give. (for now)

Good morning. I am beta testing the new version of Link Research Tools. It is especially good at doing manual outreach for manual spam actions. So I need somebody who has a manual spam action for unnatural inbound links. Contact me here http://www.indexicon.com/contact-us/ if you would like me to help.

Hi everybody,
One of my sites dropped suddenly and dramatically. Actually I can´t find it within the first 20+ pages. Within Webmaster Tool I can´t find any warnings or anything like it.

I somehow suspect that It has nothing to do with bad links (I only did some PR links) but maybe with a notice I got a few days ago from another site owner that 5 curated articles I had with links to his site that triggered a warning on copyscape because he had moved the articles so my links where no more pointing to the source article.

My question now: Can you point me to a resource to learn the best course of action? Where can I ask Google whether I have a penalty and what kind (In webmaster tools nothing shows)?

Thanks so much in advance,
Demian
