Shear failure of the FRP RC with closed FRP shear links. Each shear span of the beam was examined separately in two consecutive phases . After the first test the beam was repaired using a cement grout and the adjoining shear span was tested in the second phase. Additional metal strapping was provided to avoid the failure of the non-test shear span.
BEAM DETAILS:

concrete: fck=38 MPa
shear span-to-depth-ratio a/d= 2.6
shear span a=1120 mm
flexural reinforcement: 4x12.7 GFRP bars (46 GPa)
shear reinforcement: first phase GFRP links (65 GPa)
second phase CFRP (95 GPa)

spacing of the links: 260mm

The ultimate strains in the tensile reinforcement under the load point exceeded 8000με. The strains in the shear links at critical locations near the crack reached 14000με for the GFRP links (first part of the video) and over 5000με for CFRP links (second part of the video).
