DADS: If your dad didn’t love himself and others, you may’ve copied this. If so, divorce him and do better He may never love you unconditionally. Then empathize with him. Learn how his parents imprinted him to imprint you. Forgive Dad; tell him you love him.

Seeking Participants for Guided Imagery Study

A fellow (transpersonal psychology) student is seeking participants for her guided imagery study. Participation involves a 30-45 minute interview through Skype. Along with helping out a student, you get to participate in some important research into the wellness benefits of guided imagery.

"The aim of this (Master's Thesis) research project is to explore the transformational experience of using guided imagery for personal growth. We use the term personal growth in the broadest sense here and invite participants to define and interpret "guided imagery" based on their own understanding. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with prior experience of using guided imagery for self-healing. Participation will be conducted through semi-structured interviews via Skype." (Swary, MSc Student)

Changing Your Character with Meditation

Over time, meditation/mindfulness and many other contemplative practices LITERALLY RE-WIRES THE BRAIN producing permanent changes to one's psychology, emotional stability and overall ways of being. I know this from the neuroscience, the psychological science, the spiritual and mind-science literature of the East and I know this from personal experience.

"neuroplasticity from long-term practice seems to create both structural and functional brain changes, such as greater working connection between the amygdala and the regulatory circuits in the prefrontal areas. And the neural circuits of the nucleus accumbens associated with “wanting” or attachment appear to shrink in size with longer-term practice."

"When the yogis meditate on compassion there’s a strengthening of the coupling between heart and brain beyond what is ordinarily seen. Finally, there is that tantalizing bit of data showing shrinking in the nucleus accumbens in long-term meditators, suggesting we might find further structural changes in the yogi’s brain that support a lessening of attachment, grasping, and self-focus. Precisely what other such neural shifts there might be, and what they mean, await deciphering in future research."
