Posted on behalf of TASLA

I know we have some new coordinators who might benefit. It is probably the best conference I attend all year. And it is cheap! $75 + hotel. All food is paid for by vendors except your lunch down and back.

Greetings,

Do you know someone who has never attended TASLA? TASLA will be sponsoring one travel stipend for the amount of $300. The link below is the online application. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2018.

This year's conference plans to be fantastic.
Amy Mayer from Fried Technology and Donalyn Miller, author of The Book Whisperer, will be two of our guest presenters

Thank you.

I'm Gretchen, a middle school librarian in Northern Virginia, just outside DC. We just had a great, energetic annual VaASL conference last week, full of learning -- I blogged about it here: http://www.bubbleupclassroom.org/home/three-big-ideas-for-school-librarians!

Looking forward to seeing lots of great tweets about the conference and following along! #aasl17 #notataasl

The #AASLUnconference starts at 11 pm EST tonight. There are already some great slides in the standards smackdown-- and that's only part of it! I know there are plans to periscope or stream as much of it as possible.

At past AASLs, I remember really dragging to make it through the Unconference, but, of course, it was always worth it!

Here's the presentation for the Smackdown

Watched the unconference periscope on the new standards- love the web idea and I really hope someone preserved the bridge drawing of the standards. I also loved the Friday standards periscope of the song with a Joyce Valenza. AASL needs a theme song!

Hey Everyone! This has got to be one of the best ideas for the National Conference ever! Bravo to the team that put the #NOTATAASL! I know it should be pronounced not at aasl, but I love NO Tah Tah ASL.

One of the best tools to help unpack the new standards is the one pagers on the Materials Resource site which makes for a better interpretation and advocacy.

I just added this to the Livebinder as well, but I think this was a great presentation unpacking the standards that we can learn from, even if we are #NOTATAASL.

Fortunately, we have our state conference next week and will be able to address these somewhat, but I think we should plan a longer conference just to get as many of the librarians in our state together to really benefit from all of this work that has been done.
