Year End Wrappup
First, Congrats to our league winners in 2017: Touchdown Hitters, Thunderducks, and Intern Tarra Cotta! No repeats from 2016

This summer, the Rec Center asked a few hundred players past and present for their feedback and recently sent the results to us. A good number of the responses were either ideas for field & equipment or were strictly positive feedback. Thank You to everyone that responded.

The responses with ideas to improve were categorized as follows:
bumps vs handicaps: 6
rules (mercy was in a few): 5
divisions vs progressive strength of schedule: 3
and then about 10 other items non of which seemed similar to others

To address the first two we had the captains vote on their preferences. The results of that voting are included in the Word Doc I linked here.

The links I posted earlier in the month were to provide clarification to comments made about divisions vs progressive strength scheduling. I encourage you to read that if you haven't already.

That leave a number of miscellaneous items that Tim and I will discuss with the umpires when we meet with them at the end of the summer. Thanks for all the feedback from those of you that responded.

If anyone would like to take a greater role in the league that help is welcome. Tim and I both have asked captains to join us for lunch because the success of this league comes down to captains having an interest and forming teams. We do our best to facilitate what we think will appeal to the most captains. If you want to ever talk about the league over lunch or drinks after work just let us know. Simply showing up with ideas and a willingness to help will give you all the same powers we have.

Overall we had a very good year with nice weather for softball once we got past that first week. Thanks to everyone who came out to play especially all our captains for forming the teams.

I found a gray and white batting glove on the fence last night. We put it in the yellow pull-along they use to set up the field.

Just curious, but will there be a calibration for teams to move up from the rec league?

This glove was left at the North field after Monday's games. It is located in the shed.

Hoping this post isn't frowned upon (being the RC page), but we are trying to get a team together for Wed nights at C street, and hoping some RC competitive league guys may have interest. This is also competitive league. So far we have 5 guys, but needing 5 more and a couple that would be available to sub now and then. Looking for a pitcher in that mix as well. Registration will fill up quickly, so if you have interest, please let myself or +James Crow know.

I found a blue Nalgene bottle on the east bench of the south field after the last week of Tuesday games. I brought it back to my desk thinking it belonged to someone on my team, but no one has claimed it. Let me know if it's yours.

I was able to get the Elo spreadsheet into Google Sheets. You'll all see it updated when I do. There is a manual step between scores being entered on the website this sheet, so this won't be updated all that often. If you want to be notified when it updates you can configure that in "Tools...Notification Rules..."
