Name: ”My name is Maighread Lin.”
Nickname(s): ”You may call me Maisie, Meg, or Maggie.”
Pronunciation: ”It’s pronounced Mah-rihd, and you should know how to pronounce ‘Lin’.”
Etymology: ”Maighread comes from Margaret, which comes from Mañjarī, which means ‘pearl’, or ‘cluster of blossoms’.”
Legacy: Maighread/Margaret is one of the names given for the savior and love of Tam Lin in the ballads. The version of the ballad used refers to the heroine as Janet, so Maighread is used for her daughter’s name.

[ A G E ]
Actual age: ”That is rather rude, don’t you think? All right, fine, four hundred. Anyways, you probably wonder why I’m back in school when I could be, I don’t know, travelling the world having exotic, love affairs, and the such. I actually do. I just thought the Stuart England educational system wasn’t the greatest in the world, and I’d rather spend time with my own kind. Sort of.”
Physical age: ”Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that I don’t look a day over 16.”
Birthday: “I was born on the day of Imbolc, on the first of February, in the year 1600.” Imbolc is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring. It is one of the four seasonal Gaelic festivals- along with Beltane (Summer), Lughnasadh (Autumn) and Samhain (Winter). She was conceived on Beltane, the Summer Festival, and born exactly nine months later, on Imboc.

Place of Birth:  Carterhaugh

[ P E R S O N A L I T Y ]
Persona:  Maisie is an enigma; innocent yet not at the same time. She strives and uses whatever means, though it may seem like she is on the short end of the bargain, for her own good. Her warm and caring facade could often become frigid if she is crossed; this mixture of the sweet and the ruthless is often seen in fae, just as she is part-fae. Maighread plays at honesty, as it is known that the Fair Folk cannot lie, but even so, there are a multitude of loopholes that can be employed. Witty and enthusiastic, she proves to have a fae-like persona that either frightens or entices those close to her. However, her personality does have a pernicious tinge, as her talents include trickery and lies- though she literally can not lie. She’s pretty two-faced in this respect, and showed that under her sweet appearance, she will resort to anything to keep what she wants in her hands, even at the detriment of others. Maisie is a rather big flirt, and makes no secret of her romantic and sexual conquests, as well as having no qualms about her pansexual identity. Outspoken, confident, sweet yet cold, a trickster, no one truly knows what she is actually like, and what type of persona she manufactures for her situations.
Anima: Maighread is true to her namesake in private- both as a pearl and as a blossom. She’s no less contradictory in private, though hers is mostly a contrasting one of whim and wisdom, as opposed to being ruthless yet kind. Maisie is broad-minded and well-read; though having a vicious streak when crossed, such as humiliating her siblings should they get in a disagreement. Her parents often refer to her as “more Fae than human”, as she has acquired the best of the Fae’s qualities in her easygoing and wise qualities; however, she has also gotten the worst of the Fae’s qualities in her ruthlessness and dishonesty. She also shows a fondness for stirring things up, testing people and manipulating things around her to see what would happen, claiming a scientific interest in the reactions of mortals. A curse that comes with her immortality, she often sees those with shorter lifespans as insignificant and inferior, and would often toy with mortals- romantically or otherwise, for her entertainment.

[ L I K E S ]
Roses: Her interest in roses in fabled to come from the ballad detailing her parents’ romance, as Janet had plucked a rose from Carterhaugh, and thus summoned Tam Lin.
Reading: Having spent her childhood during the Renaissance and Reformation, she has a love of learning, and also of reading for pleasure.
Romance: She grew up in a time when courtly love was all the rage, and romances were passionately portrayed in literature and theater and music.
Drama: ”Especially if I cause it.” She also has a fondness for acting, as she has a facade to keep up.

[ D I S L I K E S ]
Romantic love: As much of a whimsy Fae she is, she ridicules the emotion of romantic love, though she strongly feels familial and filial love. She thinks it extravagant, especially when people pine within her earshot of it, as she believes that no mortal  should be so precious that their absence would kill someone.
Humiliation: When humiliated, she often pretends forgiveness to the perpetrator, then bides her time alone to hurt them ten times over.
Reproach: Whatever it is, she absolutely loathes being talked down to, or patronized. Partly because she’s older than most people around her, yet they sometimes have the nerve to reason and argue.

[ F E A R S ]
Ash wood: Like a Faerie, she fears the power of ashwood- it will burn her upon contact.
Iron: Maisie also fears iron, as it is the only metal with which Fae can be harmed and bound with.
Mab, the Faerie Queen: Mab once confronted Maisie when she was alone, using her powers of persuasion to force the ten year-old girl to strike herself across the chest using a white-hot poker.
Fire: Her fear of fire comes from her experience with the Queen of the Fae, who forced her to beat herself with a poker, and also transformed her into both a brand and a coal.

[ S T R E N G T H S ]
Determined: Where other may have succumbed to the viciousness of the Faerie Queen that she and her family were put through, she stays strong and defiant, if not just to spite Mab.
Brave: Though this is rather confrontational, she doesn’t cry easily, and if someone hurts her, she schemes to stand up to them instead of grovelling and backing out.
Loyal: She values her family above all else.

[ W E A K N E S S E S ]
Prideful: She raises her head high and acts devil-may-care about criticism, leading to assumptions of arrogance. Her immortality sometimes leads her to act with inconsideration towards mortals. Maisie has learned over four hundred years, so she often takes great pride in her accumulation of knowledge, often by speaking formally and being verbose towards people to drive home that point.
Dishonest: Though Maisie has the Fae trait of literally not being able to lie, she can and will often tell one half-truths, or leave important factors out of what she says. In promises, she will often find loopholes out of oaths, an inclination
Assumptive: When Maisie cannot figure out a truth to something, she often fills in the gaps in her knowledge with assumptions of her own making.

[ A B I L I T I E S ]
Glamour/Illusion: Her glamour is strong, and she can shapeshift into a completely different appearance- something that only those of royal Fae blood are rumored to be able to do. This may or may not have been a result of Mab’s influence on her when she was young. Mostly, she uses this glamour for concealing the burn scar on her chest.
Persuasion: Maisie’s persuasive skill is strong, and she can often brainwash people into doing her will, though the power has worn off over the years until its fullest form she can manifest is the partial control of one person.
Shapeshifting: Maisie has several forms she can shift into- lizard, adder, bear, and lion; marking the four animals she was shifted into during her trial.
Pyromancy: Though she fears fire, Maisie has the ability to control or produce flame, also a relic of her trial, wherein she was transformed also into a brand and a coal.

[ A P P E A R A N C E ]
Hair: Maisie’s hair is ash in color, attracting motes of copper, silver, and gold in the sunlight. Her hairstyle reflects upon her mood and event, but she mostly just lets it simply down in their natural curls, carelessly sweeping it to one side. Her hair is wavy and silky; thick despite being light, and reaches just to her mid-ribcage.
Eyes: Maighread has sky-blue eyes, flecked with a sapphire blue, green, and gray, and may appear any of the hues in different lightings. They are referred to as Fae eyes for their bright variation of colors and their glassy appearance: her eyes never betray any real emotion, though they constantly have a spark within them. Her eyes are almond-shaped and fringed with dark, thick lashes; set under gracefully arched and thick eyebrows, which do not detract from her beauty but add to it.
Complexion: Her skin is fair and porcelain, impossibly smooth and soft-looking. A trait that is often described as drawing away from the awe-inspiring fairness of her appearance are the numerous freckles she possesses, though they are not so blatant as one may think- faint dots just the slightest nuance of darkness from her natural skin color.
Height: 175 cm
Weight: 50 kg
Build: Maighread has a lean and graceful build- tall and fair, speaking to her Fae blood. She has long limbs and fingers, always having been trained to have the perfect posture.
Facial features: Maisie possesses a heart-shaped face with noticeable and distinctive features. Her nose has a graceful slope to it, though lacking the classic pertness of a fae’s nose. She has high cheekbones and a defined jawline. Her lips are full, and naturally rose-tinted, complementing her facial features and warm-hued yet pale skin.
Clothing: She usually dresses in whimsy, though modern clothing, usually in clear and crisp colors. The most noteworthy feature of her wardrobe are the dangling earrings she wears.
Scars: Maisie has a large scar across her chest, inflicted by a white-hot poker, given to her by the Faerie Queen when she was around 10, as a revenge of sorts against her parents’ happiness and Mab’s longing for Maisie’s father.

None thus far:

[ E N E M I E S ]
Mab, the Faerie Queen: The Queen has long harbored contempt and ill feelings- first for her mother, as the Fae queen had lusted for Tam Lin, but Janet had stolen him away; secondly for Maisie herself, as she is the product of the love of Tam Lin and Janet. Furious, Mab sought to kill Maisie, not knowing that her very spell had caused the girl to become immortal, though susceptible to harm. Mab once confronted Maisie when she was alone, using her powers of persuasion to force the ten year-old girl to strike herself across the chest using a white-hot poker. Tam Lin and Janet confronted Mab, on finding their daughter wounded seemingly mortally, unconscious and having a scarlet streak burned across her chest in their home. Mab taunted the couple, mentioning that if they could hold onto their child when she changed her, they would have her pardon and never suffer her wrath again. She then practiced the same sorcery on Maisie as she had done on her father, shifting her into a lizard, an adder, a bear, a lion, a burning brand of iron, and a burning coal. Janet had thrown her into the well, and thus had broken the hold that Mab had over the family for good.

[ B I O ]
Ballad of Tam Lin: Most variants begin with the warning that Tam Lin collects either a possession or the virginity of any maiden who passes through the forest of Carterhaugh. When a young woman, usually called Janet or Margaret, goes to Carterhaugh and plucks a double rose, Tam appears and asks why she has come without his leave and taken what is his. She states that she owns Carterhaugh, because her father has given it to her. In most variants, Janet then goes home and discovers that she is pregnant; some variants pick up the story at this point. When asked about her condition, she declares that her baby's father is an elf whom she will not forsake. In some versions, she is informed of a herb that will induce abortion; in all the variants, when she returns to Carterhaugh and picks a plant, either the same roses as on her earlier visit or the herb, Tam reappears and challenges her action. She asks him whether he was ever human, either after that reappearance or, in some versions, immediately after their first meeting resulted in her pregnancy. He reveals that he was a mortal man, who, falling from his horse, was caught and captured by the Queen of Fairies. Every seven years, the fairies give one of their people as a teind (tithe) to Hell and Tam fears he will become the tithe that night, which is Hallowe'en. He is to ride as part of a company of elfin knights. Janet will recognise him by the white horse upon which he rides and by other signs. He instructs her to rescue him by pulling him down from the white horse - so Janet "catches" him this time - and holding him tightly. He warns her that the fairies will attempt to make her drop him by turning him into all manner of beasts (see Proteus), but that he will do her no harm. When he is finally turned into a burning coal, she is to throw him into a well, whereupon he will reappear as a naked man, and she must hide him. Janet does as she is asked and wins her knight. The Queen of Fairies is angry but acknowledges defeat.
Aftermath: Though the Faerie Queen had acknowledged defeat, she remained bitter for many years- to further the torment of the young couple as well as to entice Tam back to her, she had cast a spell of slowed aging upon Janet and Tam, and eventually would turn them Fae. This spell would also insure that Janet was barren or that whenever she conceived would result in a miscarriage; however, unbeknownst to Mab, Janet had conceived on Beltan and thus was immune from the latter part of the spell during Maighread’s birth. Furious, Mab sought to kill Maisie, not knowing that her very spell had caused her to become immortal like the Fae.
Then to now: The family estate had always been Carterhaugh, but the family had moved frequently, mostly to avoid suspicion as they never aged. Amongst the places they had lived were France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Canada, The United States, Egypt, China, and India, and many other locations. Maisie was literate, home-taught in reading, writing, and arithmetic, though her other abilities such as math and science were all but antiquated from the time of the Renaissance. Around the time of the new millennium, she elected to return to school and gain an actual public education. She is now in her sophomore year at Mythology High- a place where she could experience a semi-mortal life, among people like her.

So, if Maighread is Fae, does she go in "creature" or "other"?

Is there a profile template

Nia stepped into the Great Hall, looking around at all of the couples. She didn't have a date, but didn't mind, as far as everyone else knew. She sighed, stepping into the corner to watch her surroundings, red hair and her blue dress making her stand out amongst everyone ((Open))

Alyssa sits in her fathers temple alone, she can hear faint music coming from the direction of the Great Hall, she turns away and sighs, not only could she not find a date to the dance, she wasn't able to make any friends. They all shy away from her because of her fathers reputation, and honestly she hasn't really done anything to reach out to them, she sighs again and closes her eyes willing the tears not to come..
