WHAT's IN A NAME? A LOT
My middle name, as per Dutch Catholic tradition, is Maria. For a couple of reasons, I don't use it:
☺I'm a male and this name in most western countries is a girl's name.
☺With all my other many given names it's all too long to fit on many forms and time consuming, so in practice, I've dropped it.
My Thai daughter had a valid Thai passport, issued without a problem and used many times without a problem.
During our last holiday in Thailand, my Thai wife went to renew it in Udon Thani. We were refused. Reason given: my foreign passport didn't have one of my middle names Maria.
Punishment of a 5yo child for the sins of her father's omission on his passport.  In front of the immigration officer, my 5yo gave me a hug and told her "he's my daddy". Officialdom ruled. There was no compassion nor appreciation of the gravity of the situation for my little girl potentially being stuck in Thailand. Maybe the security side of immigration thought my cute 5yo might be a terrorist. I guess next time I won't visit Thailand. Then there won't be a foreign passport to show when my wife applies for my daughter's Thai passport. #ThaiPassport #ThaiVisa

#Thailand Energy Ministry pushes forward #SmartCity project to boost #EnergyEfficiency #EnergyStorage #ElectricCars

An agreement has been signed between the Energy Policy and Planning Office, Ministry of Energy, and Amata Corporation Company Limited to put in motion the Smart City project, which was designed to raise the country’s competitiveness by slashing energy production costs. Under the collaboration, Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in Chon Buri province will be used as a model smart city, with focuses to be placed on the development of smart energy, smart environment and smart economy.

Energy Minister Gen Anataporn Kanjanarat pointed out that, during the transitional stage towards Energy 4.0, the ministry will resort to new technology to improve the capacity of alternative energy storage batteries. It will also promote the production of electric cars, targeting to put out 1.2 million units by the year 2036 and to set up 150 charging stations within 1-2 years.
