The Fight for change : Oct 10th

The Fight is a collection of articles from around the globe speaking to the issue of pornography and sexual abuse against boys, and the effects on their lives as they grow into men. The Fight is a collection of articles from around the globe on the issue of pornography and sexual abuse against boys, and the effects on their lives as they grow into men. West Suffolk children’s doctor admits sexually abusing patients A West Suffolk children’s doctor who sexually abused vulnerable young boys in his care ‘purely for his own gratification’ is facing a ‘substantial’ prison sentence. Dr Myles Bradbury, 41, formerly of The Street, Herringswell, pleaded guilty to 25 charges against a total of 18 victims from 2009 to 2013. The victims, all boys, ranged in age from eight to 17 and suffered from illnesses including cancer and blood disorders. Durham schools, police remain mum about sexual abuse case; cite open investigation DURHAM — Police and school officials declined to comment on a mother’s allegations this week that three older students bullied and sexually abused her 5-year-old son in the back of a school bus. 11-year-old boy raped in broad daylight in Hackney The group issued a statement reminding parents to advise children never to accept food or gifts from a stranger, even if they are friendly and do not look suspicious. “It is important to instil a level of confidence in your children which will enable them to say no in an uncomfortable situation,” they said. How high school coaches can help stop sexual violence A few years ago, John Blasco was a high school basketball coach in Juneau, Alaska, building a program from scratch at a brand-new high school. Then he took on another challenge: talking to the teenage boys on his team every week about respect, domestic violence, and sexual assault, part of a fight against Alaska’s epidemic of violence against women. A Juneau domestic violence shelter asked Blasco and other local coaches to start using a program called Coaching Boys Into Men, which teaches high school coaches to have weekly conversations with their teams about how to treat women and avoid aggression. MOTHER LOVE / Female Abusers Why is abuse by mothers so much more under-reported than abuse by fathers? Because of the very nature of the relationship. Professionals consider mothers more trusted figures than fathers. And even if there is suspicion of abuse, there is likely not to be any physical evidence. Additionally, a mother’s actions can be more confusing because of her traditional role as the primary physical caretaker and nurturer. In many cases, the child’s family includes only the mother. What child would risk losing his/her only family? She may be the only one available for love and support? The post The Fight for change : Oct 10th appeared first on No Working Title .

Rod Cartwright has written a great article Six lessons for the leaders of tomorrow here are some highlight points.   Leaders’ actions, not just their words, show what the organization values. “Leading by example” tops the list of key leadership attributes, immediately followed by “communicating in an open and transparent way” – underlining the critical […] The post Six Lessons For The Leaders of Tomorrow appeared first on Dr. John A. Rain…

This was the first piece I wrote when I started to get the flashbacks and memory recalls. It was not the first time I was abused, that distinction was won by both my parents. But for some reason the very nature of this abuse, the humiliation, the degradation over shadowed me for many years. It was at a scout camp, we were locked down in our tents because of the rain. I can still smell the canvas, the dampness, the stale air, his breath. I find it very hard even to this day when it rains. The post Rain… appeared first on No Working Title .
