It’s been a while since the last time I sent an email.  I’ve been a bit busy with work and whatever free time I get, I keep chiseling a way at the project.  This is so far what I have done and eventually I will be coming to you guys for help in developing the Hackerspace into a formal entity operating in the San Fernando Valley:

1)  Contacted several hackerspaces and have been doing some research on how best approach the development of our own physical hackerspace.  Lots of useful information and ideas.

2)  Work on the business plan is almost done!  My goal is to finish the first draft by August 15, followed by the final plan by the end of August.  Then I can start the process of applying for non-profit status (501.c.3) I have all of the research done and is just a matter of having my SBS advisor guiding me through the process of getting it all together.

3)  I’ve been developing contacts with many providers of “nicks and knacks” that we may get to use in the future and I am happy to tell you that Adafruit has provides us with our own discount coded exclusive for Hackerspace LA members (10% at checkout). The guys at iFixit also provided us with our own discount codes.  They are 10% off a $50.00 purchase.   Send me a message if you want it.

4)  The website will be up and running in about a week.  Send me your projects if you would like me to show case them in our website.

I haven’t actively been looking for a space since I’ve been working on getting the business plan ready so if any one of you would like to volunteer their time and help me find a temporary place for us to meet I would really appreciate it.

I am thinking about having a google+ Hang out to meet with you guys and answer any questions you may have.  If that is something you may be interested let me know and I’ll add it on the meet up calendar.

If you have any projects you would like to share with the rest to the members, send me and email and I’ll include it in the nest message.

That’s all for now.

Jorge
