On the fifth day of Christmas MuseCon said to me

Have you registered yet? Do so NOW to save $10; when 2016 ends so does our current rate. More details and the link to our store can be found at

As the weather in the northern hemisphere trends towards less-inviting many people increase their online shopping. Did you know you can support MuseCon when you do so? We're a registered charity with Amazon Smile - just click the link ( and enter "MuseCon" as the name of the charity to support. Their search will find us (listed in Palatine, IL); you select it and shop :) It does NOT cost you anything - all donations come straight from Amazon, and never affect the price you pay - it's a very simple way to share your support for educating Makers, Crafters, and Creators of Art and Music!

The MuseCon web page has been updated to have instructions on how to get to the hotel with all of the construction in the area.

We need your help!
As is true with many creative endeavors, not everything has gone according to plan. So we're turning to our awesome community in hopes of finding additional resources :)
In particular, MuseCon would like to borrow (or rent)(cheaply?we hope!) 10 drawing benches for Friday, 8/7 (can be returned Saturday morning if better than after weekend). We can provide our own transport.
We're also looking for an (experienced, preferably) art model.
If you can help please contact me directly (musexap @ If you know someone who can feel free to pass along my contact info :)
Thanks everyone!

PDFs of the MuseCon program book and schedule grid (which is also included in the book) are available on the MuseCon website.

Back again this year is "Dramatic Readings of Music", because it was so much fun last year. Lyrics in music probably started as poetry being put to a tune. We reverse that and read song lyrics like poetry, with some pretentiousness and as much humor as we can get out of them.

So bring the lyrics of your favorite song, or one you want to make fun of, an optional strange accent, and share with everyone in this audience participation event.

Examples from last year:
AC/DC "Dirty Deeds" as a perky Valley Girl
Richard O'Brien's "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me" as a Southern Preacher
"Row Row Your Boat" in a snooty British tone
Ray Stevens'  "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" as a tragedy.
