Last year I bought an ant farm that used that blue jelly substance, and I populated it with the local (an invasive species type of local) Argentine ants.

I've since heard that the blue jelly is unhealthy for ants. Is that true? They seemed to do well, but the ant farm wasn't secure enough and they kept escaping, so I had to release them.

If you look closely, you'll see some winged royals (including a few guys, maybe). 😺

Last summer I decided to put a sweet gum ball in with the ants. I was curious to see if they'd make a nursery in it, and hide the queens, eggs, and pupa inside.

Boy, was I right. They started stuffing that sweet gum ball immediately. It was so cool!

Please excuse my video technique, it leaves something to be desired.
