Started in January of 2013, @russianballerinas of Instagram is increasingly growing in popularity.
The idea came to Gabriella Lambros (@gaballerina), the account's creator, when she realized that there were little to no accounts on Instagram specifically devoted to Russian ballet. Gabriella had a passion for Russian ballet for as long as she could remember. That being said, she decided she wanted to share that passion with the popular social media world and help people learn more about different Russian ballet dancers that Gabriella thought deserved more recognition.
Wanting to bring someone along for this adventure, Gabriella ran the idea to a close friend, who is also a ballet dancer, Carly Herrmann (@carlyherrmann), asking if she'd like to help her start and run this account with her. Then Gabriella contacted another good friend of hers that she had met at the Kirov Academy of Ballet summer intensive, Anna Kaji (@annakaji), to be a co-owner.
Currently, @russianballerinas is growing faster in following than ever expected. Gaining about a thousand or so followers a month, the Instagram account now has well over 30 thousand followers and is days away from it's two-year anniversary since launching.
"From world-renowned legendary dancers, to current rising ballet stars, FOLLOW US and immerse yourself into beautiful content of this extraodinary style. With such fire, passion, and love for their art, you'll see for yourself what makes these dancers so significant." -Gabriella Lambros
