In spite of the jury being out on who's really in charge of personalized search, I'm feeling hopeful today. Maybe it's spring fever...

Hello All,

I'm looking for some advice on merging a Google Business page with a Google Local page. Currently I am not seeing an option to do this but I have seen this done before. Any advice regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there - I was just wondering if you could tell me why my business is not showing up in Google Search (knowledge graph). When I first set up the page, all you had to do was search Shelfstore in Google Search and the knowledge graph would show. Google changed the name to Shelfstore ltd and I asked them to change it back because when you typed Shelfstore into Google search - the knowledge graph didn't show up. However they have now changed it back and for some reason it still isn't showing up! Could someone please make it so it has gone back to normal or tell me why this change has happened??

Hi Terry - I understand your point, that does make sense. But wouldn't it be useful for people to see the Google+ page when they type in the name of the business? It comes up for most brands and businesses when you simply type in their name...

Blog schema markup article body issue:

I am not sure if this would be the right community to ask, just let me know otherwise.

I have added blog posting schema markup in the hope to get some of my blog articles be reckoned as in-depth articles by Google.

I tried to validate with Google structured data test tool but it says: Page contains property "articlebody" which is not part of the schema.

articlebody is listed in schema.org as valid for blog posting articles and Google in depth articles recommendations say it is necessary.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug in Google test tool?

Here is an example of a page that I tried to validate:

http://www.phpclasses.org/blog/post/221-Speedup-Your-Web-Deployments-Using-Composer-to-Install-PHP-Classes-Packages.html

I tried to validate it here:

Answering to my own question, the schema must be for Article, not blog. Once I fixed that, the error was not reported anymore.

Hello Google Guru's. I would like to know, if someone blogs on my site and wants to use the same content on their website blog, will Google mark down one of the sites for duplicating content, and should the Blogger have their authorship setup for both blog sites to appease the Google Gods?

We are building a new company website and are in the process of optimizing everything. We didn't use schema.org markup on our old website, but are considering using it for the new one.

The site is comprised of Service & Company Info pages, Blog posts and custom fields for in-depth project Case Studies. Can anyone advise if we need to use markup for our site, and if there are specific areas of our site that are more important to mark up than others?

Strictly speaking this is not Authorship but it's not a million miles way either and I feel it merits discussion here given the penchant and interest of community in being open with their identity and their content.

http://arstechnica.com/business/2013/10/google-will-soon-put-your-face-name-and-content-in-its-ads/

Personally I have no issue with always having made public my + 1's in that profile tab, although I know others have not, and let's face it, closer scrutiny of some including marketers just shows them plussing their own or clients content.

But avatar adjacent displayed endorsements on products - how do you feel about that - even though you can opt out of them.

Part of me initially felt it was too Facebooky but after a split second of thought, I settled and personally don't mind - if I am proud enough of the association and the endorsement in the first place, then why not?

After all, it already happens in the Play Store or Chrome store, and when I see a product there with + 1 from someone I can relate to already from Circles, I certainly feel more comfortable obtaining it - so this is just an extension of that.

So my query is , do you think this endorsements development will make people who are ignorant of Authorship, even more curious and determined to attain it?

Love to hear thoughts about those who feel strongly about this in any way, be it if you are someone who conceals their plus ones, or who would opt out, or change their behaviour from now on.

I've opted out, and since I use AdBlocker I wouldn't see the result anyway. If Mark is right about high reputations - then the result would/could be useful.

New Knowledge Graph feature. Okay, so I just found this one today (it's actually from late January) and thought I'd share to see if anyone else has seen these.

Good morning Google Authorship and Author Rank community!

SEO dashboard Google Authorship and Publisher markup tools

https://www.rankwise.net/article/42/seo-dashboard-google-authorship-and-publisher-markup-tools

With our authorship tool you can check site wide for authorship and publisher markup errors in under 5 minutes. Try it yourself with our free showcase. We follow a simple set of rules to validate the markup. We use the follow rules:

1. rel=publisher is used on the front page (domain.com).
2. rel=author is used only on blog posts and not on the front page.

Then we check for all authors that we find if they have set the link to the domain in the Contributors to section of the Google+ profile, and if the name of the author show on the Google+ profile and that is used in the byline for the blog posts if they are an exact match. If you need more on the all you need to know is found here:

Not really related to Authorship but this could interest those who are more in to the mechanics of attribution and evaluating

How to circle the people who shared your articles on Google+
You have configured the authorship on your website and everything works. Now, I guess that you want to make the most out of it.
Here is a tool that will allow you to discover, in one place, all the people who shared an article you have written and tagged with the rel="authorship" markup.

http://blog.wordiz.it/features/find-people-share-articles-google

The tool will let you circle these people to reward them for having shared your article. I think it is a great tool to get an overview on all your guest post and personal websites.

Social signals and author visibility
Do you think social signals are enough to approximate an author's visibility? If not, what factor would you add?

http://blog.wordiz.it/questions/z-impact-the-author-visibility-factor

In the context of the +WordiZ project, I am trying to find out which parameters to include the ' visibility equation '.

At first thought it seems social signals reflect visibility but what is the weight one should give to incoming links versus social shares, and what about comments on a page?

GWT Not Seeing My Structured Data
I just noticed that Google is not seeing any of the structured data for one of my websites.  There are dozens/hundreds of pages with Author Tags and other schema.org markup, and the Rich-Snippets tools still sees everything when I test pages.
Is anyone else seeing this or have any idea WTH?
