Fabricate money thru' banks Small savers
attentive in tax-VAT-duty web
___________________________________
The government has been championing the cause of financial inclusion in recent years but, paradoxically, it is progressively penalizing those entering the formal banking channel.

In his proposed budget for fiscal 2017-18, Finance Minister AMA Muhith prescribed a 60 percent hike of excise duty on account balance between Tk 1 lakh and Tk 10 lakh -- a move that will leave savers with even negative returns from their deposits. For instance, if one keeps Tk 100,001 with a bank for an optimistic rate of 5 percent interest -- which, incidentally, is below the rate of inflation -- he/she should get Tk 1,250 at the end of three months in theory. But in reality, the return would be negative.

Thanks to the 60 percent hike on excise duty, Tk 800 would be deducted from Tk 1,250, leaving him/her with Tk 450. Now from Tk 450, Tk 187 will be held back as income tax and another Tk 300 for account maintenance fee. So, the saver would have to foot an additional Tk 37 out of his/her pocket -- instead of an income from the savings.“We have not heard of such taxes or levies on deposits in any other country of the world,” said Anis A Khan, chairman of the Association of Bankers, Bangladesh.

The additional levy on bank deposits will erode the real savings of the country's citizens, he said, while urging the government to withdraw excise duty on debit or credit balances. “We feel this is a discouraging tool to increase the government's revenue and will dampen the people's savings habit,” said Khan, also the managing director of Mutual Trust Bank.
In practice, hardly any bank gives 5 percent interest on deposits; it is mostly 3-4 percent, with some offering as low as 2 percent. Mohammed Nurul Amin, managing director of Meghna Bank, said banks lowered deposit rate amid a lack of demand for credit.

“Now, the rise in excise duty will make people more reluctant to keep money with banks,” he added. Besides, intentionally or unintentionally, not everyone has a TIN number, so they end up paying 15 percent income tax at source instead of 10 percent. The other option available to small savers is savings instrument, but that too is looking less rewarding given that an interest rate cut on the investment tool is in the works.

So, where depositors will go?

“The tax burden on depositors will only create a moral hazard, compelling people to keep money either under their pillows or launder money abroad,” said Biru Paksha Paul, former chief economist of the Bangladesh Bank. The hike in excise duty will not only affect the depositors, it will make the sick banking industry sicker. “The real return from deposits has already been negative because the interest rate came below the inflation rate. Amid this situation the new excise duty is unrealistic,” he added.

The move will divert money to the capital market or the informal sectors, said Golam Hafiz Ahmed, immediate past managing director of NCC Bank, said “Cooperatives, NGOs, local merchants and non-banking financial institutions will get a chance to lure in savers by offering higher rates. But, there will also be a risk of being cheated,” he said.

According to the proposed budget, accounts with balance of up to Tk 1 lakh will remain exempt from the excise duty. An excise duty of Tk 800 will be imposed on debit or credit balance exceeding Tk 1 lakh but less than Tk 10 lakh, up from Tk 500 at present. For balance between Tk 10 lakh and Tk 1 crore, the excise duty would be Tk 2,500, about 67 percent higher than the current rate.

Some Tk 12,000 will be slapped on balance between Tk 1 crore and Tk 5 crore. It is now Tk 7,500. And for balance exceeding Tk 5 crore, Tk 25,000 will be slapped on as excise duty, up from Tk 15,000 now.As of December 2016, about 83 lakh accounts stand to be affected by the proposed increase in excise duty next fiscal year.Bank accounts are the largest contributor to excise duty. In the first eight months of the fiscal year, Tk 1,480 crore was collected as excise duty, up 16 percent from a year earlier, according to data from the National Board of Revenue.

Meanwhile, the banking sector is badly in want of effective governance. And yet, instead of addressing the grave problem, the government is maneuvering to extract more money for savers.

In Muhith's budget speech there was not a single mention of the steps the government is taking to deal with the problem of state banks, which have a capital shortfall of more than Tk 13,977 crore as of March. Since fiscal 2011-12, the government has injected a total of Tk 9,655 crore to shore up the state banks' capital base.

In the upcoming fiscal year, Tk 2,000 crore has once again been set aside for state banks' recapitalization.

Is BNP A Radical Organization?

It is became harder for the Bangladeshi asylum seekers in US and other Western countries who taking their risk of life left Bangladesh to avert government persecution and save life. 99% of them didn't leave Bangladesh not only to avert varieties of tortures, but also to save their life as most of them were over sure that they wouldn't be able to escape death. They had bitter experiences how their co-workers were killed inside their dwelling houses, or elsewhere, or lifted and later found dead in crossfire, or crushed under train leveling as 'JONGY'.

Human rights groups, independent media outlets, all over the world, frequently disclosed government atrocities what also annoyed the government. It needs to be noted that the government to deter and crush anti-government mass-movement/uprising randomly arrest, kidnap, kill, innocent activists of BNP and other parties.

One of the major techniques of Sheikh Hasina is to vehemently condemn her political foes for committing such activities what she herself did in the past and even does at present. It is known to all that she is the prophet of terror and violence in Bangladesh. During the first term of Begum Khaleda Zia (1992-1996) as prime minister of Bangladesh, it was Sheikh Hasina who for the first time in Bangladesh imposed blockade, introduced gunpowder to arson vehicles and cocktails to terrorize people that led to the death of many innocent passengers and predestines. She used her cadres to dismantle railway slippers in order to disconnect and disrupt rail communication, set fire on mills and factories and government establishments, including power distribution and water supply centers and what not.

Sheikh Hasina now speaks in such pretended and innocent way, as if, she never experiences such heinous deeds and violence in Bangladesh, and all these barbarities are new and unknown to her.

But the most disturbing and (abishash incredible) unbelieving reports, according to the non-partisan knowledgeable sources, are that Sheikh Hasina and her associates, in fact, use their party cadres, even law-enforcing agencies, to launch petrol bomb attacks on vehicles and trains what they propagate through diplomatic channels, state machineries, personal contacts and media to brand BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) activists and its supporters, particularly members of the Jatiyatbadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Jatiyatbadi Jubo Dal (JCD), and its alliance partner Jammat-e-Islami and its (Jamaat) student front Islami Chhatra Shibir as terrorists. Sheikh Hasina even threatened to try and punish Begum Khaleda Zia as the mastermind and cases have been filed against her accusing her for all the violence that Bangladesh now experiences.

(Ref: http://www.thedailystar.net/punishment-must-68308)

But the independent and competent sources confirmed that Sheikh Hasina’s allegation doesn’t tally with the reality. Her propaganda is her trick to conceal her involvement with the current terror acts in Bangladesh and ascribe those on her political rivals. Sources point to the fact that Begum Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, handed over some videos to the EP (European Parliamentary) delegation who called on her during their recent visit to Bangladesh. It is confirmed that those videos clearly showed how the law enforcing agencies and pro-government elements eliminate the opposition activists applying inhuman and unlawful techniques. She explained how the 20-party alliance was denied democratic rights since Sheikh Hasina took over as prime minister in 2008, held the most controversial election in 2014 and now denies to hold acceptable fresh election what she pledged prior to the fake election. She claimed all these factors compelled the alliance to impose blockade. She also narrated how Sheikh Hasina government uses law-enforcers and her party cadres to create terrific situation by throwing petrol bombs and setting fire on the buses, trucks and trains and ascribes (chapiya deya) the responsibility on the opposition activists in order to (1) create anti-blockade sentiment and antagonize the common people against the 20-party leaders and activists; (2) brand them as militants and terrorists in home and abroad to create public opinion in her favor; (3) nab and kill the opposition activists to solidify her power; (4) eliminate the patriotic and democratic forces of Bangladesh; and above all, (5) create Bangladesh a hub of the pro-India elements.

One should keep it in mind that in Bangladesh presently media is not independent. It is totally under the strict surveillance of the government. Most of the reports are either censored or the concerned dailies are verbally asked not to print those true reports that can create anti-government sentiment due to its atrocities. It needs to be mentioned that most of the dailies either enjoy official blessings or face pressure and intimidation. These dailies, in most cases, avoid such stories apprehending government retaliation. Journalists and owners of media outlets always remain scared of arrest or harassment and suffer from insecurity. As a result, dailies cannot entirely ventilate the atrocities of the ruling party cadres or the law enforcing agencies most of whose personnel were once the ruling party activists. Only those major incidents of atrocities occasionally get space in media which can’t be concealed.

Still the scant reports that ooze out of undeclared, but strict, official censorship and surveillance are enough to calculate and justify the extent of the involvement of the BAL (Bangladesh Awami League) cadres in creating inhuman and horrific situation what is diverted the opposition parties to brand them as militant and terrorist. Let me mention some of such reports that were available in the online edition of some dailies of Dhaka, to justify that government is behind the criminal atrocities of throwing bombs on or arson the vehicles.

On January 19, 2015 at the rail station of Comilla, two BCL activists were caught red-handed while hurling crude bombs at the platform. The arrested activists were Nasir and Shipon. Both of them are involved with the BCL of Comilla Victoria College.

On January 25, 2015 police detained local BAL leader’s nephew Azimuddin (27) with seven petrol bombs, one cocktail bomb and local arms kept in his house close to Feni telephone exchange. Arrested Azim, is the nephew of Feni BAL Secretary General Abdul Karim.

44 cocktail bombs were recovered from BAL district leader Mohammad Yousuf Ali’s home on January 27, 2015. Moinul Islam OC of Shibgonj Police Station confirmed the recovery of the weapons after the explosions of several bombs. Police searched the house of Yousuf Ali and found the cocktail bombs in a bag. However, he wasn’t detained or arrested (as he belongs to BAL politics).

On January 28, 2015 the detective branch of police arrested the son of an Awami Muktijodhdha League leader at Sonar Bangla market of Madhabdi municipality in Narsingdi and recovered five petrol bombs from him. The arrestee was identified as Md. Masum (22), son of Nuralapur union Awami Muktijoddha League vice-president Zehar Ali. Police, said Masum is a miscreant.

On February 4 at about 12am, in the facebook of Rajshahi branch of BCL it was posted in a status how the BCL activists themselves launched bomb attack and ascribed its responsibility on the opposition party activists. The status, obviously created hue and cry what was deleted just after 40 minutes.
On February 4, 2015, police arrested two AJB leaders from Jagannath Dighi Union of Chauddagram, Comilla. At the time of arrest both of them were in possession of petrol bombs. They were identified as Bulbul and Manik. However, Chauddogram police OC, Uttam Kumar Chakrabarti denied arrest of anyone, as they are BAL activists.

On February 04, 2015 four activists of BCL, of Sonab area, Rupganj Upa-zila (sub- district) were injured while making bombs. They were Rahmut Ullah, Shahin Mia, Kabir and Rasel. The injured cadres were admitted to Dhaka Pongu Hospital and other local clinics. The incident occurred at the house of local AJL leader Lokman Hossain of Bhulta Union. Police broke into a room where the blast had occurred and confiscated the evidence, including 10 machetes, multiple knives and various local and foreign arms. The locals and other witnesses complained that right after the incident, several Awami league and Chatra league cadres had gone and cleared the evidence from the spot.

Two BCL leaders, named Uzzal and Zubayer, were caught red-handed in Dinajpur while throwing petrol bomb on a truck on Dinajpur-Dhaka Highway at about 12pm on the night of February 13. But police released them due to pressure exercised by the local BAL leaders. (Daily Sangram, February 1 5, 2015).

On February 7, 2015 four AJL activists were burnt in Feni while they were making petrol bombs. Earlier another Jubo League activist Jahid died in explosion while making bombs in the same town. Ripon, the AJB activist, was injured from his own bomb.

On February 7, 2015 members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested five BCL activists from a students’ mess in Barisal City and seized a shooter gun, two cartridges and eight sharp weapons and a stolen motorcycle from their possession. The arrestees are Kamruzzaman Linkhon, Palash Chandra, Sushanta Biswas, Shimul Bepari, Rajib Hossain, and Sohel.

Rab handed over them to Barisal Airport Police Station. They were later produced before Barisal Metropolitan Magistrate’s court that sent them to jail. (Ref: http://www.thedailystar.net/gun-billhooks-seized-from-students-mess-63893).

According to the available information four BCL cadres were injured while preparing bombs at a godown of BCL leader Shahid Miah situated at Chunar area of Rupganj, under Narayanganj (part of greater Dhaka) district. Rajshahi Unit of BCL posted a status in its official facebook confessing the responsibility of throwing petrol bombs. Police arrested two BCL cadres from Jagannath Digi Union under Choddogram of Comilla (District). On February 02, BGB (Bangladesh Border Guard) arrested six BAL workers who were armed with petrol bombs, cocktails and local weapons. The BAL leaders, however, influenced the BGB personnel to release their cadres.

10/12 activists of BCL and AJL were nabbed in Lakshmipur (part of former Noakhali) district on February 1 for their involvement in throwing petrol bombs at CNG auto-rickshaws and pick-up vans. Police released them defying the protest of the local people.

On February 8, 10 petrol bombs were found inside BAL office in Chittagong. On several occasions, some BAL or pro-BAL activists were even caught red-handed along with bombs from inside several buses.

One Bappi who was wounded inside a house of Old Dhaka while preparing petrol bomb and later died in the hospital was initially branded in the media as a leader of JCD, the student wing of BNP. But later it was proved that Bappi was a BAL activist. An investigative report says that Bappi received Tk. two lakhs (equivalent to about $2,600) from the local BAL MP Haji Selim to prepare bombs. Scores of BAL, AJL and BCL cadres were nabbed from different parts of the country since the BNP-led blockade declared on January 05, 2015.

Daily Inqilab, on February 9 (2015), reported that the wrist of the right hand of BAL leader Shohag (32) hailing from Bogra was segregated while making cocktails.(Ref: http://www.dailyinqilab.com/2015/02/10/239270.php)

Daily Sangram on the same day printed a detailed report, which was also published on February 6 in other dailies of Dhaka involving the cadres of Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL), the student front of BAL, and AJL (Awami Jubo League) youth front of BAL in terrorist activities. According to these reports huge numbers of BCL cadres were injured while preparing bombs or throwing them at vehicles. Some of them were also arrested by the police, but later released as they belong to the ruling party.

A daily of Dhaka ‘Amader Shomoy, on February 12, 2015 quoting National Intelligence Agency (NSI) mentioned the names of the BAL leaders and cadres alongside the BNP-Jammat activists who prepare, sell or buy petrol bombs. The report identified 90 BAL leaders and activists who assist in sabotage or ‘disruptive’ activities.

An AJB cadre named Najmul (27) was wounded on February 13 while he was preparing bombs on the rooftop of his house at Akhandbaria village under the Begumpur Union of Chuadanga (a part of former Kushtia) district. He is also an accused of several cases; Police arrested him (Daily Amader Shomoy, February 17, 2014).

One AJL activist Washim (25) of Lakshimpur district was nabbed by local people along with a foreign pistol on the night of February 16 while he to scare the local people went Kolshama village under Ramganj Upazill. Local people manhandled him. Police rescued him from the wrath of the mob and hospitalized him for treatment.

On the same night of February 16 at about 11pm the officer In-charge (OC) of Daganbhuyan Upa-zilla under Feni (part of former Noakhali) district detained Kawsar, a worker of BCL, along with a foreign pistol, including a bullet. (Ref: http://www.dailyinqilab.com/2015/02/17/240855.php )

According to Daily Inqilab (February 18, 2015) since January 5 (2015) 269 persons were crippled due to bullet-hit or other ways. Those who became crippled due to so-called encounters include businessmen, students, groceries, even pedestrians. Some of them were the victims of political violence or they had past animosity with the police. None relatives or friends come to visit or take care of them in the hospital apprehending police and RAB harassment. The hospitalized victims are guarded by jail police and some others jointly guarded by police and RAB.

Daily Manabzamin on 22 February said, one Nur Hossen, the Joint Secretary of Jingira (situated on the outskirts of Dhaka City) Union BCL and his elder brother Kamal Hossen were arrested by police on Saturday night, February 21, along with four petrol bombs and five cocktails.

Government involvement is justified if one minutely examines the statement of Former Parliament Member Major Akhtarruzzaman who in a TV talk-show raised some sensitive questions on throwing petrol bombs on a passenger bus plying along Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. He said, “According to the statement of the police superintendent aired, by TV channels, in Choddogram side of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, the speed of the bus was 110km per hour while the bomb was throwing.” He said, it is beyond the capacity of a human being to throw a bomb inside such a speedy bus from its behind. He questioned whether a human being possesses such powerful hand to throw a bomb whose speed was over 110 kms per hour that not only hit the bus, but also broke its strong glass and caused death to 11 passengers. He alleged some trained personnel threw bombs at the bus using some other throwing devices or weapons (grenade launchers).

The pro-blockade activists don’t have the capacity to hit a running bus from its behind. As the spot of the incident is very close to Indian State of Tripura border, the petrol bombs might have been thrown from the other side of the border or by some professionals inside Bangladesh.

On the other hand, sources quoting the intelligence report said, some hundred bombs are daily thrown in various regions of Bangladesh. The raw material of such hand bombs are sulfur dioxide, phosphorous ammonium nitrate, DTT, TNP, lead-oxide, mercury, sulphur, potassium, sulphate. 80% of these materials enter Bangladesh through illegal way from India.

The intelligence report mentioned the names of 216 importers and suppliers of these illegal explosives that among others included such 25 names who are related to BAL politics. However, names of eight out of 90 BAL leaders and cadres could so far been collected who are involved in importing, supplying and preparing cocktail bombs and selling them to the concerned groups in Bangladesh.

All these partial, out of enormous, information unequivocally established the truth that the pro-government elements are engaged in smuggling materials, preparing and throwing petrol bombs on vehicles and arson them. The indifferent behavior of the law enforcing personnel in nabbing the bomb throwers what proves that the terrorists belong to the pro-government fronts. They never nab the criminals at the time of occurrence. The criminals freely leave the spot on the very nose of the police. Later police arrest the local BNP and Jamaat activists for their alleged involvement in throwing bombs or setting fire on vehicles.

Knowledgeable sources analyzing the scant media report and the technique of nabbing and killing the opposition activists opine that in most cases pro-government cadres throw petrol bombs or arson the vehicles whose responsibilities are ascribed on their political foes. Enjoying police cover the bomb throwers, in most cases, freely leave the place, as the police never tried to instantly nab them. The reason of such mysterious behavior of the police is that the bombers belong to the ruling BAL (Bangladesh Awami League). And the bombs are thrown to arrest the local leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat. Huge number of BAL activists were either wounded while preparing bombs or the law-enforcers at times erroneously arrested them along with bombs, but released them when their identify was known.
Still Sheikh Hasina holds the opposition parties for the ongoing violent anarchies. Even a very ordinary individual, not to speak of a Prime Minister, remains vigil regarding his or her past record whenever he/she talks or condemns others. But Sheikh Hasina forgets this establish norms or tradition. She forgets that the people of Bangladesh even the international community didn’t forget her past deeds what paralyzed Bangladesh repeatedly that caused human sufferings and stumbled our economic prosperity, above all set bad practice in political arena. Now she raises cry against the same what she did earlier.

On the other hand, Sheikh Hasina created the ground that compelled the opposition alliance to impose the current blockade in Bangladesh. Since she assumed power in 2009, she deprived minimum political rights of her political foes in one hand and involved and arrested them on fake charges. Opposition activists were and still are the victims of fake charges and arrest, hijack, planted cross-fires and extrajudicial killings. She intentionally did those undemocratic and unjust deeds to provoke the opposition to take arms. The opposition comprehended Sheikh Hasina’s game and refrained from taking undemocratic steps to deter government atrocities. They followed those hard practices, including blockade, what Sheikh previously did during 1995-1996 and in 2006-2007.

She is adamant to crush the opposition leaders and activists through non-judicial and unlawful killings, though she repeatedly utters that she stands for democracy. What a dubious, contradictory and tyrant policy she adopts and implements that terrorize and victimize the most promising nation of South Asian region. Such policy shatters its economy, ruins foreign trade and local industry, shrinks foreign investment, isolates it from it from the reality.

Organized by New York-based LLC and Greater Noakhali Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) what was presided by its president Abu Sufian and conducted by its General Secretary Saleh Ahmed Manik. It was started through the recitation of the Holy Quran and addressed among others by former NY Senator Hiram Manssurratte, Attorney David Korgold, Bruno C. Bier, Esq John P. Demio Esq, Weekly Runner Editor Dr. Abu Haque, Akhon Shomoy Editor Kazi Shamsul Haque, Journalist & Researcher Mohammad Zainal Abedin, Mosharraf Hossain Shobuj, Jagpa leader Rahmat Ullah, Jahangir Suhrawardhy and others.

Terming BNP as a democratic party Manserratte said, BNP is being deliberately branded as a terrorist organization for political reason. He said, we believe in pure democracy. BNP practices that type of democracy.
The proprietor of Weekly Runner & social activist Dr. Abu Haque said, Bangladesh is a small country with huge population. If we love this country we are to be united to protect it.

Condemning the anti-BNP propagation of some circles Dr. Haque said, BNP is a popular party. It is our duty to rally under the leadership of BNP. No autocrat could retain in power forever. Dictators are thrown to the dustbin of history.
David Korngold said, BNP led by Begum Khaleda Zia ruled Bangladesh for 12 years. On the other hand, Sheikh Hasina designs to remain in power crushing the opposition like a dictator.

He said, Sheikh Hasina ruined independent journalism, she doesn't tolerate criticism of her opponent. People of Bangladesh do not like it. The propaganda of branding BNP as a terrorist organization has no creditability and acceptability.

He said, Jacob Milton stood against the atrocities of Sheikh Hasina. He sued against Sheikh Hasina. Jacob Milton will fight till the atrocious rule of Sheikh ends. We all stand beside him. We will behind him until the autocrat is not ousted.

Terming Bangladesh as her 'Mom' Niru S. Nira in her speech exposed and severely condemned the atrocious and heinous problems that Sheikh Hasina let loose on the Bangladeshis, including abduction, murder, one-party rule, corruption, killing in the border, Pilkhana murder, plunder of people's money from banks and share markets, smuggling money out of the country, etc. and above all India's interference and aggression in every sphere of Bangladesh.
She said, the country poured with digital thieves. It is our responsibility to protect our country. We are to save our country. We are to be united.

Kazi Shamsul Haq, a veteran journalist and editor of Akhon Shomoy praising the patriotism of Jacob Milton said, those who love their mother love their motherland as well. These people are worried of the country. Our people shed their blood for this country. We should consider our country as our existence. Our core problem is dearth of national integrity. No nation can survive without unity and solidarity.

Citing various pro-people welfare-oriented works of Late Ziaur Rahman, Kazi Shamsul Haque said, he was a great reformer in upgrading the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

Pointing to the Bangladeshi immigrants Attorney Bruno C. Bier said, up to January of 2017 about 20 thousand immigrants were arrested. Out of them there is no violation record/documents against about 5,000 immigrants. You have right to stay in America if you have Green Card or legal documents without Green Card.

Suggesting the immigrants he said, if police officers come to your residence to arrest you don't open your door, if you even don't have legal immigration status, unless they can show you warrant of arrest signed by any Judge. Don't tell anything more, except your name, if you are detained in a street or inside a car.

Attorney David Korngold said, producing documents before the Louisiana Court I proved that BNP is not a terrorist organization. He said erroneous information/conceptions are being disseminated against BNP. Such policy is unjust and illegal.

Emboldening the immigrants he said, don't get nervous or hopeless if even you are in America not for a year but for 30 years. He said, we deal with cases related to legalizing the immigration status in the USA. To protect yourself please call to Legal Network or take the assistance of any expert attorney.
Pointing to the weakness of some attorney he said, you may laugh if you ever could see their pattern of speaking in front of a Judge.

Replying a question how many immigrants are detained in American jails, Attorney Korngold said, till December 30 of 2016 their number was 3,700. Among them there was no so-called BNP terrorists. He said, showing paper cuttings it was endeavored to prove that the BNP activists are terrorists, but such paper cuttings don't have any legal legitimacy.

Jacob Milton, the key speaker of the event, highlighting the undemocratic situation in Bangladesh said, it is not possible in Bangladesh to observe hartal/general strike or launch any movement in a other peaceful means. Pointing to the inactivity of the BNP leaders he said, some BNP leaders clandestinely maintain liaison with Awami League. He asserted for this reason BNP movements nip in the bud.

Referring to the $500 sue against Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed, Jacob Milton said, the Court dismissed his appeal to acquit him of the charge/sue. He said, Joy may be punished in this case. This sue was lodged in America, as it is not possible to do the same in Bangladesh. Moreover, America is related to this case, he added.

He said, earlier Joy was arrested in America for 14 times on various charges and violations. He was detained in prison for over one and half a year on 11 cases and he was released on bail.

Terming the hijacking bid case of Joy Jacob Milton said, after reviewing the papers and documents Court dismissed the case. He said, we tried to justify in the Court that Sheikh Hasina and her son are entirely responsible for all the misdeeds and murders in Bangladesh.

Urging the people to stand against the pacts and treaties signed with India Jacob Milton said, we don't have any other alternative other than national unity to safeguard the existence of Bangladesh. We are to be sincerely united in home and abroad, he emphasized.

Journalist and researcher Mohammad Zainal Abedin said, those who treat India as friend, do not love Bangladesh. Offering/Awarding everything one after another to India the latest defense pact with India will be used to degrade Bangladesh to the status of Sikkim.

Praising the role of Jacob Milton against the defense pact Abedin said, Jacob is not a politician. But he plays greater role than the politicians that prompted him to become vocal against the anti-nation defense pact and all other evil deeds that are being committed in Bangladesh.

Condemning the role of the USA BNP leaders he said, where they are now? Why they are divided into several fractions.

Expressing his solidarity to Jacob Milton Abedin said, his (Milton) and my vision and goal are identical and same. We have one life and one country. We live for our country and we die for our country. We will not let Bangladesh to become a Sikkim. We will not pave the way for our next generation to become the slave of any country.

Pointing to the significance of national unity he said, we could liberate Bangladesh in 1971 as we were united. In 1975 Shahid Zia and Khondokar Mustaque Ahmad were released from detention due to the unity of the people.

In his address as the President of the meeting Abu Sufian said, foreigners brand Bangladesh as a terrorist country due to the evil deeds of Awami League. This trend needs to be stopped.

Acclaiming the patriotism of Jacob Milton Sufian said, under the leadership of Milton we demonstrated for three consecutive days in front of Bangladesh Consulate in New York against Sheikh Hasina's anti-Bangladesh defense pact with India. He urged the Bangladeshis in home and abroad to respond to the call of Jacob Milton to unitedly save the independence of Bangladesh.

May 30th 2017
