Posted a new beta. Its just bug fixes, but i MIGHT have resolved some of the random crashes that happen on occasion during track changes. I plan on doing one more minor update before beginning work on the next major update (which is most likely going to take a long time).
GMMP has been around for 5 years now and a large portion of the codebase was written back in the android 1.x - 2.x days when the android apis were not very mature and there was no compatibility library. I've done my best to update the code as new versions of android, but alas moving forward is going to be quite difficult with the current codebase / design. Fortunately gmmp's audioengine and data layer are pretty solid so they dont need much rework. So what I would like to do is do a large refactor / cleanup of most of gmmp's backend code (like intent receivers) and more importantly start working on a new UI from scratch. GMMP's current UI is really just a reskinned version of the original UI i wrote years ago and jamming more new features into that just isnt going to work very well. A new UI will allow me to design something that works well for all of GMMP's existing features and can work for a lot of the future planned features. Plus with the support library i should be able to make something that looks much better.
I dont plan on removing the existing UI.. just making something new alongside it. I know some people love the holo style UI so i would not want to take that away from them.
2.0.27 Beta (04/27/2016) -Fixed writing disc no tag in m4a files -Long artist names in the playlist view will now only show on a single line -Minor improvement in the responsiveness of handling remote/media control commands -Added code to prevent playback from auto resuming immediately after auto pausing from a disconnect -Fixed some crashes related to destroying activities -Fixed some crashes in the audioengine when changing tracks -Fixed other various crashes -Added Slovak and Hungarian translations -Updated other translations
Since upgrading to the Android 6 beta on my Oneplus 2, GMMP is skipping certain tracks. I thought it might be an OS problem, but another player had no problems with the same tracks. I tried deleting and rescanning the database, to no avail. Any ideas?
I have set the option that the music should be paused when the headset is removed (all three check boxes: wired, Bluetooth and dock). It seems that this option is not reliable. Sometimes music stops correctly but sometimes it continues to play on the phone's speaker when I plug out the cable of my wired headset or when I power off my car radio to which the phone is connected via Bluetooth.
+John Welch might be multiple diff messages triggered at the same time thats causing 2 rapid play pauses. I can look into putting a delay before responding to a second play pause to prevent it from handling both
I randomly have the problem that the pop-up characters in the interpret list do not match the displayed part of the list. Sometimes only digits are shown and sometimes the wrong characters. I enclosed some screenshots. In the first two screenshots only the digits 1 to 11 were shown when scrolling from the first to the last interpret. In the other screenshots the shown characters are not in sync with the list. If I close and reopen gmmp it's OK again.
Wow so google+ decided to hang as i was making a pretty big post. I dont feel like writing all that again.. so i'll keep it short.

1) Huge request, do not remove the ability to display long track names in the playlist. Leave item in the settings "wrap text". I want to leave informative.
2) 2.0.27 if you go to any folder where are the music files, then immediately eject from the application. Android 5.1.1, arm64. Cleaned the cache, deleted the program, rebooted the device, put again. Log the error, sent in the mail.
The Notification/Invert Colors setting doesn't seem to be working on my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 w/6.0.1. The text inverts, but the background does not. I end up with an empty white notification. If I turn on album art, I can see it okay in the notification, but no text.
Assuming no issues I plan to push the beta to the public in a few days
2.0.26 (03/11/2016) -Added ability to invert notification text and icon color (android 5.0+) -Fixed deleting multiple tracks from album view using action mode -Improved sdcard location detection on first install -Force mono is now correctly disabled in the UI when the EQ is turned off -Fixed various non fatal bugs -Updated translations
When it will fix the black font on the dark notification bar, and the light font on a light??? Shell EMUI from Huawei, Lenovo Vibe, MIUI from Xiaomi, Samsung's TouchWiz. Very long time please. In other players all is displayed correctly. And again please do not come up with reasons and excuses, and to add support of tags in win1265-cyrillic that are not in Unicode! Beta 25, and advance this plan no.
New beta pushed. For whatever reason my Moto X pure has full sdcard writing capabilities.. so i wasnt 100% able to test if the sd writing is working, but i followed the api and existing examples. It should work for tags, playlists, and album art
2.0.22 Beta (01/28/2016) -Added ability to save to sdcard on 5.0+ devices -Updated translations -Fixed fast scroll location on holo themes in android 5.0+
