Majestic has included their recent "Topical Trust Flow" metric in raw exports, as of yesterday. Now you can segment every individual backlink by topical category - really fantastic stuff. Incredibly useful for insightful competitor analysis.

The Majestic topical trust flow is a really interesting feature for backlink analysis.

I am still finding the categories they are picking to be a bit off atm.

I was talking to Dixon Jones about it at Brighton SEO last week and he said they only have something like 800 categories right now but it should become even more relevant as they add more categories and get more feedback on the topical trust flow.

Hi, I'm reading #GWT report "Search Queries > Landing Pages".
Like you can see in image, the number of click in the page row (74) is really bigger then the sum of click of every keyword (6).

All keywords for that pages has 0 clicks.
What do you think about?

Is anyone else having issues with Screaming Frog? For some reason it's not displaying meta tag data for me here.

Onsite competitive analysis tools?
I've used several off-site competitive analysis tools, like those of OpenSiteExplorer, Majestic SEO, and even ranking tools like AWR that will pull in interesting information. However, I've never seen a tool that will rate the onsite SEO for a sample of websites. Anyone know of any good tools for this? I'd be interested in learning how many pages have titles and descriptions that aren't duplicated, that are under the recommended character count, what the internal link building looks like, if they have schema tags, frequent words that pull up in the content that are also in the title tags, etc, etc etc.

The only thing I can think of would be to build out an Excel spreadsheet by pulling and sorting info from something like Screaming Frog, however, this would require a decent amount of manual work and wouldn't address things like keywords in content that are also in the titles (which would quickly give me an idea of how well optimized the competitor's site is as well as what SEO specific keywords they are focused on).

I've yet to find a "one stop shop" solution for this.

In addition to the tools you listed I'd add +Raven Tools  They're doing a good job of aggregating data from multiple sources.

What Metrics do You Report On?

I have annoying questions in the form of a survey. Just a quick one. What metrics do you include in reports? By reports I mean the one's you send to clients on a regular basis, presumably mainly automatically generated.

I ask because I'm writing a blog post about measuring our work. The responses are totally anonymous so you can have no fear and be honest.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1YsrbD00VDP9h2Ykk5IQdMg_dAwlP8frMXJBlC3pZ1Ow/viewform

I should also mention that this won't be the last annoying question I have, so prepare yourselves ;)

If you enjoy being annoying and getting other people to answer questions, feel free to share. All the results will be publicly available within the next week.

Thanks for the responses so far. Small in number but fairly diverse so should give me something to work with. The survey is still open to responses so if there is anyone who still want's to answer, I'll leave it open till 10am 22nd Jan Melbourne time (25 hours away).

By now, I'm sure you've all seen Google's announcement about the more detailed Queries data in GWT. Has anyone had a chance to play around with it yet?

The split between web / mobile / image impressions is particularly interesting. Anyone else seeing any of their managed sites with a massive % of visibility coming from images? I see it on a couple of our client sites, and to a lesser degree on my own site.

Any other significant observations you've found?

Hi,

I'd like to know your opinion about the seokitten.com. It's still in beta but I found it useful in some cases. Mostly for clients that try to hide other domains ranking for the same keywords. What do you think? What should I improve?

Another tidbit from Google Webmaster Tools. The image is a screenshot about query report of GWT in Google Analytics: a period compare.
Like you can see there are 2 different keys with average position in 2 time period.

Key1: From 1,0 to 1,0 the change is 50%.
Key2: From 1,0 to 1,0 the change is -85.71%.

Can anyone share a sample of Moz/OSE and Ahrefs backlink report files?

I just need the column names, not the actual data.

I just finished integrating Majestic SEO and Google Webmaster Tools in my SEO Tool, and I want to integrate other backlink data software too.

If anyone wants to test it out and give me feedback, let me know.

Thank you.

I don't know many SEO Tools that checks for Google indexed status of backlinks (page level and domain level) and from the initial feedback this is very useful for detecting low quality links (page not indexed) and penalized domains (domain not indexed).

The process is quite simple, you can either import a list from other tools or add your domain so the links can be discovered automatically.

What do you think?

Hey Guys,

I was looking to ask a specific question on the Hreflang testing tool the Dejan SEO guys made, after finding it in Aleyda's preso from Search Love last year.

I tried testing this HREF XML sitemap URL (http://www.msccruises.com.au/au_en/au_href_sitemap.xml
) however it returns with a 'Not Found" message.

The URL's can obviously be seen and I'm pretty sure that the annotations are correct. Any advice or further clarification on the "Not found" message
+Chris Butterworth ?

Thanks in advance,

Vahe

Google is asking me to prove I'm human. Everyone in the office is getting it (because of me - oops), just as I've turned on extensions in Chrome (Moz, Quake, Sitetools) all of which I have used in the past with no problem at all.

I know it is not usual here so if not good - please delete. I`ve just released my new software that lets you clean links that you scraped or make great disavow files for google to take down penalty. Have a try and see results WAY better than Link Detox or any other link testing tool. Usage: http://igl00.biz/backlinks-maid-my-new-product-tutorials-and-usage/
