As prom season rolls around the corner, I thought I would talk about my junior prom. Last around this time the excitement was unreal. Unlike this year, I had no worries and my main focus was prom and just prom. Almost every girl dreams of getting all dolled up in makeup and a pretty dress, so who wouldn’t be excited? I prepared by getting a spray tan, which I probably will not ever do again. It was sticky and gross, and I do not recommend anyone to get one. I also got my nails done and scheduled hair appointments and got my flowers, so basically everything. The day came, and I knew it would be an unforgettable experience. As a group we hired a party bus to drive us to where we were eating and bring us back in time to grand march. I think a party is a good idea if you are willing to spend some extra money because for me it made it a lot more fun. We took pictures at Concordia college and at Speak Easy. The day was well spent, and the night was even better. Over all I can say post prom was the best part being that it was a black light theme. All I can say is my experience with prom last was a great and hope this year can live up to my expectations!

In the past I hated new things because I liked to keep everything how it was with no change. My senior year has been full of trying new things and going out of my comfort zone. Which has had its ups and downs. One thing new thing that was a sort of minor new thing. I decided to join track. I have not done any type of track and field event since elementary school, so this was definitely something new. I had no idea what I was signing myself up for, but I was excited for some reason. I don’t open up to things very often and I thought this will be my last chance. I knew I had a few friends that were on the team, so I wouldn’t be a complete outsider. The was one problem with this decision because I also had softball and volleyball during the spring well. Being that I will be continuing my volleyball career next year, I knew keeping myself busy with psychical activity wasn’t a bad thing. In the beginning I knew there would be some days that I would have to go from track after school then softball and two times a week volleyball right after that, so there were some late nights filled with homework, but now that I’m used to the schedule and I’m happy I stepped out of my comfort zone. I personally think now it was a good decision because I like being busy.

For my seventeenth birthday one of my closest friends got me tickets to a concert. This was very unexpected and unnecessary but I am so thankful for everything she does for me. The band we were going to see was The 1975. They aren't super well known, but we were pretty big fans of them. The concert was down in the cities right by the Excel Center. I was in softball during that time and unfortunately, we had a game the day I was planning on missing. We were unsure on how we would go about going to a concert till 12 am and then make it to school the morning by 8 am. We decided we would get up early in the morning and try to make it there on time, so I could play in the game that night. We left the morning of and spent most of the day at the Mall of America. We went to our hotel and got ready for the concert. The place where the concert was held was hard to find, but we got there. The concert was one of the best ones I have been to and I was so happy with it. It was pretty full, with it being a less popular band, but that didn’t make it any less fun. It was an eventful day and I’m glad it went the way it did.

This past weekend two friends and I decided to take a little road trip to a nearby hotel resort. This is resort is called Arrowood, and it is in Alexandria. There is a lot of things you can do there, but we mostly decided to go for the indoor waterpark they have to offer. They provide a pool, hot tub, indoor tennis court/gym, and a lot of summer outdoor activities. I had been there a few times before, so I knew stuff about it already. It wasn’t planned for super long, we wanted to go somewhere just for a night to get away. We left mid-day and arrived there at a good time. From the start we knew we would have fun and it would be a good experience. Winter gets long and repetitive, so this was something we could look forward to a little bit. We attempted to use our time as wisely as we could, being we weren’t there for super long. The water park was huge, even as teenagers and almost adults, we were excited. The had multiple water slides, pool areas, hot tub, arcade area, and a small place where you could get smoothies and such. It was a weekend well spent. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to have fun and go on a small getaway.

Highschool really does go by in the blink of an eye. No matter how much the older kids warn you, there’s no way to prepare. You hear it over and over again, but you never actually understand. Senior year especially. Before I was not quite ready to be done and make a huge transition, now it’s completely different. I’m almost excited to be done. Yeah, I will miss my classmates and the good times with them, however I think most of us are ready for change, and that’s not a bad thing. Everyday has blurred into the same because its became so repetitive. There is a lot of things I won’t miss, but just as important there is a lot of things I will miss. All the way from the first day to the last. Cheering at the football games in the fall was one of the best parts or even working hard on and off the court for volleyball. I will miss the eventful days where something exciting happens like homecoming and Snoball week. All these days leading to the last seem almost pointless, but at the same time they hold so many memories that I would not replace. Lessons were learned, and memories were made. Everyone tells us these are supposed to be the good old days, but when will we realize they actually are? We take advantage of the things we are given and how easy life is now and back then because it only gets harder form here. So, senior year keep flying by, but also slow down just a little

This summer, after a softball game got cancelled, my friend Shelby and I had a spontaneous idea. Even though it was supposed to storm, we really wanted to go swimming. I didn’t have a pool, but she did. So, we decided to make a trip to her house about twelve miles out of town. There was one thing we had to bring and that was my seven-foot inflatable duck to put in the pool with us. The only problem was that the duck was already blown up and we didn’t really want to take the time to deflate it. The solution was to tie the blown-up duck to the top of Shelby’s PT Cruiser. We took multiple bungee cords and ropes to secure it down for the somewhat long ride out of town. Before we left we needed some gas, so we stopped at Cenex. The Cenex Facebook page had taken a picture of us while we were there and posted it because it isn’t so often you see something like that. We made our way to the highway, but to keep the duck from flying away we had to have two people sit in the back and hold the ropes down. This wouldn’t have been completely terrible if it wasn’t so windy. There were multiple occasions where we almost lost the duck and had to pull over, but we eventually made it there in one piece. This was a journey, and some good memories were made that day.

This past summer my friends and I took a trip down to St. Cloud. When we were there we visited the quarries, Chick Fil A, and the mall there. We left early in the morning and came back later that day. It was an early morning because we got up 5 am. The drive there was not that bad, most of us slept or listened to music. On the way there we were filed with excitement to get away for a day and spend some time together before we started school again. Our first stop was the Quarries. As soon as we got there we changed into our swimming suits. We happened to et there early enough to be the only ones in one of the spots. We had the place to ourselves for about and hour. We jumped off cliff into the water swam around and eventually went to get some food at Chick Fil A. Being that none of us had ever been there, we were very excited. After we ate we weren’t quite ready to go get some more sun, so we headed to the mall. We shopped for a good amount of time and then headed back to the quarries. We swam some more, but by that time it was full and was going start raining. We packed up our things and headed home. It was a good small trip in all. Nothing spectacular, but good memories were made and I’m glad we took the time to have fun.

In the fall of 2015 I signed up to take a trip with my Spanish teacher and some of her students. It was such a great opportunity that I couldn't pass up. One of my closer friends was going too, so I knew it would be something I may never get to do again. We prepared for 8 months and finally the day came. The whole trip was full activities. It wouldn't day it was relaxing trip, we always were doing something. I find that a good thing. We got to experience so much in 9 days. We went to the hot springs, zip lining, and to the beach. I don't think there was a moment I was bored. We went to so many different hotels that were so different from the ones here. I made a lot a memories sight the people I went with. I made some new friends, and I grew closer with the friends I already had. We saw som many animals and eat completely different foods. On top of it all, it was also my first trip ever. I had never been on a plane, or to a different country. So that being said I had to get a passport, prepare for culture shock, pack a lot, and some how had to mentally prepare myself for it. In all, I don't regret a second of the whole trip. Traveling on a bus across Costa Rica was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. I can't put into words how thankful I am for this opportunity.

My brother and I spent a lot of time together. I might say that a lot of those times were only fun for him. Older brothers have advantages and disadvantages. There were fun times where we got along and other times I got locked in a closet. Although it was sometimes absolute torture at time. I think it's one of the best things now. Taking a look back I wouldn't trade any moment we had for anything. We did a lot together, all the way from cutting my moms hair to cutting my hair. We had a blast. There's nothing I would trade for those times. Although it's different now because we can't ever be young like we were again, I still get to joke around about those times with him. The older we get the more things we get to talk about. There's always been a special bond shared between the two of us. For some reason after every fight something always brought me back to forgiving him. We had endless nights of playing outside with the whole neighborhood. I am so thankful for the brother I got, and all that we did together because without him I wouldn't truly be me. He helped shape me into to who I am today.

YouTube videos were always something that kept my friends and I entertained. So, one day this past year my friend Shelby and I had a desire to start our own channel. I can’t honestly answer why we wanted to do this because there really wasn’t any reasoning behind it. We talked about making one for a while and then we eventually followed our words and did it. Our first video was called “how to bake” where we made a batch of brownies for over an hour and videotaped it. At the time we both thought we made a very interesting video, but looking back you could definitely tell it was our first video. After while we made about two more videos in the span of about three or four months, and along the way we had some special guests join us. Obviously, they weren’t the best videos but the fact that we loved doing it makes it better. I can’t say for sure that we will make more in the future because I think we had a lot more motivation doing it last year. Although it really wasn’t that long ago, I still think I can look back at it and laugh. I personally think it shows a lot about who we are as people because we enjoy having fun and making people laugh. But the best part about making these videos was the fact that we can now look back at them and see all the good memories we created.
