Imperial guard have been updated with their new codex and name, the Astra Militarum. You can take out flyers with either the new Astra Militarum Wyvern or Hydra. Or take the fight to the front lines with Ogryns or Bullgryns, there is also an option to make Nork Deddog. You can also now command your guard with an Officio Perfectus Commissar all this month!

That month a new codex has been released with a handle full of models too. The Militarum Tempestus, an imperial guard army but with a few special elites. Tempestus Scions are the elite of this army with special gear to withstand harsh weather and treasured weaponry to destroy their foes. There also has to be a HQ of the army, that's why the Tempestus Scions kit can also be converted to a command squad, this includes the standard bearer, the apothecary, the vox caster and the Tempestus Prime. The Taurox and the Taurox prime are the vehicles for this army, acting as the heavily armoured infantry carriers to transport the Scions into battle. However, the also come with various types of weaponry to support the Scions in the thick of battle.

Hellbrutes now have a customisable model. Before this kit was released the only possible way to get a hellbrute was to buy Dark Vengeance or get forge world chaos dreadnoughts. So now instead of having a multi melta and a power fist you can choose what you equip your hellbrute with. Also,
according to an FAQ article hellbrutes are now 100points each without any upgrades.

A new army has been released this month, though it isn't a very big army. This month Gamesworkshop is going to release the Imperial Knights. The Imperial Knights can join up with any imperial army from Imperial guard to space marines. It will be exciting to see what rules these mini-titans will have and to see what they are capable of in the board. However, if you are a collector you may want to pick up a Sentinals of Terra Limited Edition; especially if you are wanting to add these Knights to your army.

The new Tyranids are now available to pre-order on the Gamesworkshop website and the Tyranid army has quite a few new bugs to add to their collection. The first new Tyranid is the Haruspex/Exocrine. Apparently the Haruspex is very useful in taking out infantry, but not just that, rumours say that for every wound lost the Haruspex gains an attack and for every wound inflicted the Haruspex gains one lost wound. The Exocrine however is very useful in taking out tanks or tough enemies.

The Harpy/Hive Crone are new Tyranid 'flyers', the Harpy may have appeared in the last codex but there was no model for it, but now there is and it has another option as well! The Harpy is a 'monstrous bioform that fly with a deftness and agility unattainable by even the most sophisticated fighter-craft. As they soar overhead, they rain clusters of living bombs onto prey worlds and spit death from their forelimbs.' (Extract from Gamesworkshop's description). The Hive Cone is mainly used to take out other flyers and possibly tanks on the ground below.

The Hive Guard/Tyrant Guard have been given a new look and so have the Tyranid Warriors and the Termagant and Hormagaunt boxes now contain more for the brood but costs increasingly more in money. New Carnifex sets also give you the option to make Old One Eye.

Also, hurry up if you're going to buy the Limited Edition Tyranid Codex as there are only 2,000 out there!

Overall this looks like a good year so far for Warhammer 40k.
