Flying Phoenix Qigong w/Sifu Terence Dunn at Eastover Estate & Retreat Center
May 26- May 29
FLYING PHOENIX QIGONG with Master Terry Dunn is a 3-day and 5-day intensive Qigong workshop that teaches participants the essential core practice of Flying Phoenix Heavenly Healing Chi Meditations (Fei Feng San Gung), a rare and extraordinarily powerful medical Qigong system created more than 400 years ago by Taoist sage named Feng Teh of Ehrmei Mountain in Xichuan province in western China. Flying Phoenix Qigong is a complete Taoist monastic system of hygienics -comprised of standing and seated, stationary and moving meditations that imparts a wide range of salient health benefits: increased respiratory power, improved circulation and metabolism, well-regulated sleep and resulting higher energy levels, improved neuro-muscular function and balance, strengthened immunity, increased bone strength, and the allostatic reversal of many signs of aging. Besides its splendid health benefits, Flying Phoenix Qigong training so sublimely integrates mind and body to a higher level of structural sensitivity--by bringing all the organ functions under the regulation of the subconscious mind—that it stabilizes full absorption-jhana and trains one-pointedness (samadhi) so that the practitioner’s mind easily rests in the second and third jhanic states. (FP Qigong is also so systemically sensitizing that strict safeguards must be observed as to where and when one practices the art so as to prevent any type of sudden interruption.) Additional dates July 27-30 and Aug. 29-Sept. 3. Please see our website for more information and a link to the program schedule.

TERENCE DUNN, Ph.D, is an expert instructor of Chinese martial, yogic, and healing arts with more than 39 years of training based in Los Angeles, CA. Since 1990, he has popularized Tai Chi Chuan, an authentic Qigong practice throughout America and Europe through his highly acclaimed Tai Chi for Health and Chi Kung For Health DVD programs. Terry has also pioneered the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong in modern medicine and professional sports. Educated at Yale College and the Harvard Business School, Terry is a gifted teacher, author and filmmaker who expresses an ecumenical vision in preserving some of the most rare and powerful arts found in China's martial, yogic, and spiritual traditions. Terry Dunn's 39 years of experience in Chinese holistic health practices includes more than 32 years in T'ai Ch'i Ch'uan, Qigong and Chinese methods of meditation, and more than 30 continuous years in three styles of Chinese boxing (kung-fu). He has studied authentic Kung-Fu arts under some of the most renowned Chinese martial art masters of the twentieth century. Dunn is an instructor in the Southern Sil Lum Five Animals Kung Fu, Taoist Elixir Method, and the legendary "Eight Sections of Energy Combined" Kung Fu. Terry taught Tai Chi and Chi Kung courses at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for many years, and wrote the first medical protocol in American medical history applying therapeutic Tai Chi and Qigong exercises to accelerate patients' recovery from major surgeries. In 2000 and 2001, Terry became the first Tai Chi trainer in the NBA, training the Los Angeles Lakers during their second championship season, conducting a 50-minute Tai Chi and Kung Fu warm-up and conditioning regimen at the start of every practice. Terry is the creator of the all-time best-selling Tai Chi for Health DVD series (released in 1991) and the six-part Chi Kung For Health series (released in 2003) teaching the remarkable Flying Phoenix Celestial Healing Qigong.
"Because of the great interest in Qigong in the west, it is important to have bona fide teachings by bona fide teachers. Too often students wind up learning a little bit of this form and a little bit of another, while never learning any complete system. This series is a good example of a serious and gifted instructor who offers a complete system of healing qigong to the serious student." - Solala Towler, Editor, The Empty Vessel -- Journal of Contemporary Taoism.

Junfeng Li – Healing of the Heart with Spiritual Qigong Master

In contrast to over 2500 years of wisdom gained from meditative practice and evidence, the relatively short recent history of science — much of which is based on assumptions relating to static matter, is now perceived by most people as the golden rule by which we are meant to judge whether any theory/illuminating idea is valid or not. Western medicine is largely confined to this rigid “box” we humans have created with this limited knowledge. The amount of money required by the medical community for finding cures based just on this “boxed knowledge” has increased costs for the average person seeking medical attention and even health insurance – making both unaffordable for many.

Meanwhile, there are certain things which science has no tools to measure. Many QiGong masters like Junfeng Li, receive gifts of teaching and transformation from Divinity itself and are being called upon by the divine to transmit this knowledge to enlighten others and help alleviate suffering.

Master Li was head coach of China's National Martial Arts Team, 100+ kids won gold medals with him. He acted in, and directed several martial arts films, and was an overnight sensation for playing the main role in the very popular film "Wu Ling Zhi" - Legends of [Martial Art] Heroes.

Yet, Master Li continued to search for the internal peace and greater self-realization, studying with many QiGong masters and cultivating Internal Qi. His sincerity and open heart, brought him pristine awareness. He was “chosen” to receive and pass on Heavenly Qi Gong and Tai Chi teachings in the lineage of Lao Tzu, Kuan Yin, Jesus, Muhammad and other divine spirits. These teachings include a philosophy that calls for the unification of all religions, caring for the planet, and saving the environment.

At that time, China was not quite ready to receive what he had to offer, so the master was called to travel to the Philippines to start his teaching. Still with two young children at home, Junfeng Li quit his Head Coach position with the Chinese government, forgoing his entire retirement/pension plan, and traveled to the Philippines with no prior arrangement of support or financial commitment of any sort, trusting only in the message of spirit that support for his work would be there when he arrived.

With such trust in divine consciousness, Master Li spent 14 years in the Philippines, where he began his lifetime dedication to teach Sheng Zhen Gong – the qigong of unconditional love that brings happiness and the “wisdom of life” to all beings. At the same time he recorded these teachings in books and CDs. In 2002, Master Li came to United States and another 14 years passed. At 79 years old, Master Li continues to travel to Asia, Europe, Africa, and all over United States to spread the word of “Opening the Heart with Unconditional Love”.

Sheng Zhen empowers and transforms lives - as the editor of Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuangong, Anabel Alejandrino said: "It is through practice that one is led naturally into one's own perfect love in the heart. More than just a healing tool for the body and the emotions, I have found that not only do the movements almost magically become the tools with which we can become the person we all want to be, but also our capacity to enjoy life with its ups and downs is enhanced and magnified. Li Junfeng is a living example of this".

To practice Sheng Zhen is to enter into a “Sheng Zhen state.” Anabel said: “As one learns to let go so that the wisdom of Qi takes over, life’s journey becomes a road of letting go of fears we hold in our bodies, concepts that render our minds inflexible, feelings in our hearts that we are attached to, and programming in our subconscious that holds us back. In so doing, we make way for what we truly are in essence – infinitely free beings, embodiment of love on every level, sparks of the divine, perfect and full. It is this experience that the practice of Sheng Zhen Gong brings. Ultimately, the practice is a key into one’s own heart, which enabling one to walk into their own light. In this process, love for oneself becomes a tangible reality. This in turn leads to loving others unconditionally. These are the building blocks to a world of love – to a Sheng Zhen World.”

Junfeng Li is a highly cultivated Martial Art and Qigong master who receives teachings and messages from divine spirits in meditation. It’s a rare opportunity to be with him for 7 days at Eastover, Lenox, MA this coming spring March 31 – 7th. Please visit http://eastover.com/li-junfeng-2.html for details

Junfeng Li – Healing of the Heart with Spiritual Qigong Master

Junfeng Li is one of those highly cultivated Martial Art and Qigong masters capable of receiving teachings and messages from divine spirits in meditation.

Though science and medicine has made huge leaps in physical and mental care, today still there is no good tools to measure evolution of consciousness. Exciting news related to Qi Gong and Tai Chi had been published from many of our presenters, here are two from one of our Symposium speakers and presenters Dr. Roger Janhke’s newsletter:

“Recently, the Mayo Clinic and the University of AZ received a $3 million NIH grant to study Tai Chi Easy — specifically – for cancer, because it is such a well-designed approach to Tai Chi and Qigong for the Mind-Body effect -- healing, stress management and personal empowerment.”

Here’s recent evidence on how Tai Chi slows aging!

A study published by Cell Transplantation reported people who perform Tai Chi had a rise in their cluster of differential 34 expressing cells (CD34+), a stem cell important to a number of the body’s function and structures.

Qi Gong (Chi Kung) is the Art and Science of Living. It has scientific base.

It is a powerful system of healing and life energy (Qi) cultivation from the Ancient Chinese Tradition. Qi is the vital life force that flows through all things in the universe. Gong means work, or sub-conscious ability that is cultivated through steady practice. Gi Gong is one of the most approachable practices of mindfulness available to everyone, at every moment. Qi Gong forms use breathing techniques, gentle movement and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate the Qi. By integrating physical postures, breathing techniques and contemplative thoughts, Qi Gong practice leads to better health and vitality and a tranquil state of mind.

Our modern world poses many challenges to our cultivation and maintenance of Qi. Constantly living in a stressful state, the sympathetic nervous system (the fight or flight response) becomes the norm with shallow, rapid breathing and quick heartbeats.  Depletion of Qi can impact digestion and elimination, leading to insomnia, and impairing other vital daily functions, thus affecting our wellbeing. When we engage in daily mindfulness practices like Qi Gong, Meditation, or Tai Chi, it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, enabling a relaxed state in which the body can heal itself and establish new neural pathways conducive to health. As vitality improves and energy flows freely and in rhythm with the universe, gradually symptoms alleviate and disappear. There are many forms of Qi Gong, each emphasizing a unique form of rejuvenation and cultivation of this vital life force.

Many Doctors have created effective programs for treating, healing and renewing their patients using mindfulness (eg. John Kabat-Zinn’s MBSR program, Dan Siegel at UCLA, Ron Siegel from Harvard, Jeffrey Schwartz M.D., Norman Doidge M.D., Marty Seligman from UPenn, etc.).  The symposium will introduce the alternative approach of Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Please join us for this landmark event with the masters.

I look forward to welcoming you here.
