Kits vs. Fabricating your own mods?

So after mulling it over for a while now, I've made up my mind not to trade in my Shadow VLX VT600. I am still going to get a bigger bike but, I am keeping this one.

Instead, I am going to turn it into a bobber for when I am just going around town. So in my Google searches I found this interesting site that sells various bobber kits of all kinds. Apparently, according to the site all their kits can be installed with little to no modificarion.

I just thought I would share and get your opinions on it. I know some bikers like to fabricate their own modification, as much as possible. I for one don't have a garage full of various power tools so for me this is awesome. What are your thoughts on kits vs. fabricating your own mods?

+Marc Heimbigner sounds cool, your bike will probably need the same kits as mine since the VLX series used the same body for over a decade. We shoulds compare notes when we are done.

+Tania Steffens I will definitely keep everyone up to date. It won't be happening until next spring though, or until I purchase the bigger bike.

Currently uploading a new video.
And it's a track day video where I have a play on a 200bhp ZX10R. Which is only my second ever go on a "proper bike" and not a 125cc.
Plus I finally get to do my test tomorrow

There's nothing wrong with a little dirt or oil, it shows you ride hard.

Thursday nights during the summer the Iron Horse Hotel here in Milwaukee holds a bike night. Each week they feature a different brand or type of motorcycle, last night was vintage bikes. This red Norton was my favorite.

Hi, +Dustin Cleveland  this is a Yamaha XT660r, 2007 model.  Very trustworthy and reliable bike you can trust on long distance rides.

Having done a bit of riding in the Colorado mountains (sadly, not yet on Pike's Peak), it does get a bit strange when you clear the tree line.  Only a couple of places did I see his line not quite be where he wanted it to be; fantastic video though!

Can someone point me to any legal information regarding riding in the USA with my Canadian (Ontario) M2 level license? I just heard rumors that you aren't allowed to ride in the US with an M2 motorcycle license. Thank you.

One thing I have noticed whilst going through all the posts recently to work out who has made the best of the best section is that we seem to be getting fewer but very good quality posts. Post that are worth spending the time looking at instead of a pretty picture with very little content to it, which you might flick at like a childrens book of motorcycles. So thank you and well done to those who take the time and effort to produce these posts and write a little bit of something to promote discussion and hopefully educate others. None of us know everything and I for one like to expand my knowledge given the opportunity and that is something that has certainly happened for me.

On to this weeks all important winners, no automatic qualifiers this week and it looks like from next week three figures is going to be the target, not impossible because it's been done before, if you fancy a challenge, feel free to crack it.

In third place this week is +Darrell Shannon with his post about how you know whether you have bought the right bike, simple but very true as well.

In second is an excellent practical joke, possibly from a TV show I'm not sure but very well done and very funny. Posted up by +Barry Istuk

Our winner of the best of the rest this week is +Matthew Arndt  with his post of an idiot doing his best to ruin a Kawasaki, which is too similar to my own to not hurt everytime I see it

Well done to all and to everyone else who posted, it was very close at the top with only 2-3 points between those making the top three or not, keep at it and next week you could make it into Popular Posts section.

Enjoy your riding and stay safe.

The FrankenBike is all legal!

Finally, after all these months of building and testing, I got the FrankenBike to the California Highway Patrol for inspection and to the Department of Motorized Vehicles to get her registered and plated.

Woohoooooo!

70HP with 130kg in very, very wet conditions... and it was amazing!

As I promised, we've done something special with guys from +Kraemer Motorcycles. Check out first ride of their new supermono bike, HKR-EVO2.

Click CC for subtitles to my poor english. Also, if you liked it please SHARE it - that's the best way to support me and maybe we can do more of this type of clips in future. Especially, that #WOMOCO is growing bigger and bigger every day.

P.S. +Speed Triple & R1200GS it think we need to transfer our love from SV to this bike ;)

Over 300 motor bikes in one collection
The best we've ever seen. WDYT?
Think back to when you were a kid and you went to the toy store. There might have been one or two particular items you really wanted to check out, but half the fun came from wandering around and taking in everything in front of you. It was exciting, you were exploring, and your senses hit overload.
