The things we do for science :)

The events compostables were taken by Joan Park Community Gardens which were shredded and layered into a compost bed for scientific research. A Griffith University Intern will be monitoring the breakdown of the compostables over the next few months.

The outcome of this research will determine the viability of composting with community gardens compared to an industrial composting company. Should this system work satisfactorily the social & community benefits of this relationship from a sustainable event management perspective far out way the easy alternative. Also this system will reduce the waste cartage & processing costs which can be diverted to the community.

We have 156 members Yaaaa! But not one of you have ever posted, what do I smell :)

Come on, the reason I started this community was I'm a passionate green event advocate and I thought there'd be others out there wanting to share & discuss everything about sustainable event management (SEM).

Up till now it's just been me sprouting off to possibly myself...is there anyone out? Please show yourself and help build SEM, we have along way to go!

Surfrider Foundation Eco Challenge Gold Coast, 100% solar powered and plastic free event :)
Another great sustainable event hits the mark with 63% of all resource diverted from entering landfills. Out of this percentage, 28% of waste was recycled and 33% of waste was composted back into soil.
