The Go-Lab Project has made it into a MOOC in Australia!!

The University of Southern Queensland, Australia, has created a free MOOC on "Enhancing Laboratory Learning Outcomes (MELLO)", which is open for registration from today on. It contains a learning content about inquiry-based learning with our Go-Lab tools. Have a look:

http://www.mellomooc.net/

We are so proud that the Go-Lab Project has achieved such a range that we could convince learners even from Australia!
Thank you for your support!

.eu Web Awards 2016 – not the winner, but highly praised

The day before yesterday, on 16.11.16, the Go-Lab project participated as one of the finalists in the .eu Web Awards Gala 2016 in Brussels, Belgium. The .eu Web Awards is an online competition, launched in 2014, where .eu and .ею websites can be nominated for a chance to win a prestigious award.

Our project website www.go-lab-project.eu was nominated by HEG (Host Europe Group LTd) from United Kingdom in the category “Laurels”, but unfortunately we didn’t made it. But although we did not win, we are very proud of our project! The jury highly praised us regarding our platform, its design, structure and overall usefulness, and we are very glad about that. Most surprising and great: we haven’t known our nominator HEG before the contest, so we feel really honoured that someone nominated us just having found our website in the web!

This remote laboratory helps students to assimilate some basic principles of quantum physics, namely dealing with light interference. The Mach Zehnder Interferometer can be operated in two different modes (classical and quantum mode).

Parents and teachers: our friends from PhET have just released a new iPad app!

From mastering multiplication, to understanding atoms or exploring energy, there is something to engage every learner - at home, in the car, anywhere.
But no internet?! No problem! PhET simulations are great for engaging kids in learning science and math, and the app bundles all of PhET's HTML simulations in one app that can be used offline. The app costs €0.99, but the PhET tools remain free in web browsers and via the Go-Lab project, of course!! The mobile app is just an additional way to access these already available resources.

Explore your favorite HTML5 PhET simulations with our official app! Ideal for use in school, offline, or at home, our award-winning resources tackle complex concepts in science and math. The app delivers all our HTML5 sims with these exclusive features: • Automatic updates: get the latest HTML5 sims as soon as they are released. • Offline play: learn on the bus or at the park without a WiFi connection. • Favorites: pick your favorite sims and cre...

Because of the shape of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun, it is farther away from the Sun in July than it is in January. Still, we have colder days in January than in July. How is this possible? Through the mystery “Closer but colder” by TEMI, students will investigate the orbit of the Earth around the Sun and its influence on solar energy here on Earth. This will lead them to a deeper understanding of the seasons on Earth.
To prepare the lesson, you will need only 15 minutes! It is appropriate for students between 12 and 16 years old and will take two lessons of 45 minutes to carry out in class.

Get the PDF on http://teachingmysteries.eu/de/classroom_activity/closer-but-colder/
