Is Bible true or a fairy tale? Is Bible the Word inspired by God? Is Bible against science? How do Bible differ from religious books in the world?

Bible is Word of only living God and is true. In the world, where we have many religion and skeptics, it's bit confusing to figure out which is right. However evaluation or willingness to seek truth will help us know right one. Uniqueness of Bible, demands a verdict that it is true and inspired by God. Here are few of those:

1. Uniqueness in its Bibliography -
Bible was written by:
a. 40+ authors from multiple generations
b. Of different occupations (shepherd, fishermen, gate keepers, herdsmen, tentmakers, centurion, kings, prophets, musicians and so on)
c. Within a time span of 1500 years
d. From various continents or physical locations
e. During various events/situations such as war, famine, peace, exile and prison

2. Uniqueness in its Content/Message -
Bible has 66 chapters (written by 40+ authors) split into old testament (39) and new testament (27), however the message is same across all these chapters. And the message is; human beings, created by God but separated from him due to disobedience and ignorence, are given a way (Jesus Christ) by God to reconcile with him and enter his rest. Omniscient God chose a nation (Israel) to show his creation about the redemption plan (in old testament). The picture of promised land and instructions are given clear in new testament.

3. Uniqueness in Divine Prophecies -
God gave his servants vision on what was going to happen to few nations/people/world. Many of these are fulfilled to the point and few waits for their appointed time. Prophecies about world's 4 empires, Tyre/Sidon, Babylon etc are few of them which can be verified against historic evidences

4. Uniqueness in Historic/Archeological evidences-
Archaeological discoveries have confirmed many events said in Bible. eg: The excavation of Jericho reveals that the walls of this city did indeed fall as described in the book of Joshua. Similarly, there are evidences of King David's palace and many other sites

5. Uniqueness in Scientific facts mentioned in it-
Though God’s word is not a scientific book, all scientific facts backs up Bible. There may be some missing in Bible but none contradicts. Only God could gave man those revelation when there was no way for man to find or guess those.

6. Uniqueness in Impacts it made in many lives-
God’s word is powerful as double edged sword and it judges the thoughts and attitudes of human. The lives changed by it stands as proofs for it. It has changed many who studied it with a submissive heart to know the truth, including atheists, scientists, philosophers, politicians etc

The word was indeed inspired by God but there may be some errors (knowingly/unknowingly) made by human kind while translating into other languages. These errors may be the most sensing one (or limitation) to the language/culture to which it was translated. But none of these errors creates any impact to the message He conveyed. It is still the same irrespective of 2500+ language translations and other destruction attempts....

'Daily Promises' by Barry Adams

Psalm 29:11
Yahweh will give strength to his people.
Yahweh will bless his people with peace.

Promise #295: I will give you My strength and bless you with My peace.

Two things that we all need in our lives every day are strength and peace. There are so many challenges that life presents that will 'zap' our strength and steal our peace. The world is looking for these blessings in many vain pursuits but our God and Father has promised to give them to us simply because He is a good Dad.

So when you are feeling weak and are in need of strength, remember this promise so that you can be strong in the Lord and the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10) And when you are feeling anxious and overwhelmed by the demands of daily life, remember that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He has promised to give His peace to you (John 14:27) just because He loves you!

The Lord is faithful and will strengthen you when you need it, and He promises to bless you with His peace. You can take this promise to the bank! Be encouraged by the words of Paul the Apostle in Philippians 4:7...And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Psalm 138:8
Yahweh will fulfill that which concerns me;
your loving kindness, Yahweh, endures forever.
Don’t forsake the works of your own hands.

Promise #286: I will fulfill My purpose for your life because My mercy endures forever.

In this psalm, King David makes the declaration that God will fulfill His purpose for his life because His great love endures forever. David knew full well that God would not abandon Him or forsake the work of His hands. The NIV Bible says it this way... The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands. (NIV)

God has a purpose for your life. In His unending, eternal love, He formed you with His own hands and He promises to never leave you. It is reassuring to know that God has a unique plan for each of us that He has promised to fulfill. Sure there are many bumps and bruises on the road to our destiny, and at times we can get side-tracked.

But if we have entrusted our lives to the living, loving God, we can rest in His promise to take care of us and all of the dreams we have hidden in our hearts. David was confident that the LORD would fulfill His life's purpose because God's mercy endures forever.

May we all have the same confidence in our God and Father today. God will fulfill His purpose for you for His love endures forever!

Romans 4:20-21
20 Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,
21 and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

Promise #273: I have the ability to do all that I have promised.

This is an amazing picture of one man's simple faith in the faithfulness of his God. Just prior to these verses in Romans 4, Paul is talking about Abraham and how he hoped against hope in the face of impossible circumstances.

God had promised Abraham a son to be born by his 90 year old wife, Sarah. Though Abraham himself was nearing 100 years old, and his aged body was hardly in the right condition to have children, he believed what God had promised.

The NIV Bible says verses 20-21 this way... 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. (NIV)

Abraham didn't waver in his faith but was fully persuaded that God had the power to do all that He promised. Always remember that when God makes a promise to us, He has the power to perform what He has promised, no matter how impossible the circumstances!

Who would have thought that this simple act of faith by an old man and an old woman so many thousand of years ago would have such ripple effects throughout history! Because of Abraham's faith that God was who He said He was, we are reaping the benefits today.

What has God promised you? You never know what ripple effects there might be because of your simple obedience to believe that God has power to do all that He has promised! Don't waver through unbelief today, but believe with all your heart in the faithfulness and power of the One who made the promise.

Romans 16:20
And the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Promise #271: I will soon crush the evil one under your feet.

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus taught us to ask our Father to ‘deliver us from evil’. Jesus wouldn’t have told us to pray this way unless He was certain that His Father would answer this prayer.

We know that in this world, we will have trouble in life because we live in a fallen world. Hurting people hurt other people and the cause and effect of a fallen humanity causes many evil things to happen. However, that does not mean that we are in subjection to the prince of the power of air. In James 4:7, the Bible says, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

In Romans 8:37, Paul says that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. As Paul continues to write the book of Romans, he goes on to say in today’s promise found in Romans 16:20, that the God of peace will soon crush the evil one beneath our feet.

No matter what circumstances you are facing today, be encouraged that our God and Father will soon give us an eternal victory and crush the evil one beneath our feet! ...So rest in this amazing promise and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, even the God who is our salvation. Selah.

Promise #260: I carry your burdens every day.

I am thankful that our God promises to save us and continually bear our burdens. When we feel the weight of the world on our own shoulders, may this promise encourage us that we are not called to carry the burdens ourselves. May we always be reminded of Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11:28-30 that says...

28 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

If you are carrying a backpack full of worry and anxiety today, cast every care in that backpack on to God because He really cares about you! (1 Peter 5:7)

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one.

Promise #258: I will be faithful to give you My strength and protection.

God is faithful. He will never leave you or forsake you and He has promised to protect you from the evil one. In a world that is full of broken promises, this is something that we can know and rely on. The NIV Bible says 2 Thessalonians 3:3 this way... But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.(NIV)

You can rest in the fact that you are safe and secure in your heavenly Father's love. His Word is His bond and He is completely faithful to do all that He promises. May faith rise up in our hearts today to believe that God is who He says He is and that we are who He says we are... His beloved children (1 John 3:1).

We don't have to defend ourselves from the onslaughts of an orphan world system because He has promised to defend and protect us! ...After all, He is our Dad and that is what good fathers do!

Isaiah 30:21
and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”

Promise #256: I will be the voice behind you, guiding you in the way you should go

In today's Bible promise, God is saying that He is right behind us and He will tell us the way we should go. What a comforting thought to know that we are not left on our own to figure things out. God has committed to walk with us and to at times, carry us on our life's journey. Sometimes when I struggle to find my Father's direction, I wonder if it is because there are so many other thoughts swirling around in my brain that I just fail to hear His still small voice?

Experts say that we all have tens of thousands of thoughts chattering in our brain on an average day. Perhaps all that noise is drowning out the gentle, quiet whisper of our heavenly Dad who is standing behind us, willing to tell us where we should go if we will only quiet our mind to listen? This is why I think it says in Psalm 46:10 to 'be still and know that I am God'.

The next time you need to know what path to take, why not quiet yourself (to the best of your ability) from all the chattering and opinions that swirl in your thought life and listen for the still small voice behind you? God has promised to be there and He has promised to be the voice that will direct you in the way you should go.

Psalm 139:17-18
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!
18 If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand.
When I wake up, I am still with you.

Promise #247: My thoughts toward you outnumber the sand on the seashore.

Have you ever tried to count the number of grains of sand there are on a seashore? While it might be technically possible to do, I think it is very close to the realm of impossible. There is simply too much sand to be able to even begin to count.

King David makes a declaration that the thoughts of God toward him literally outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore. Basically I think what David was saying was that God is continually thinking of him! Non stop... all the time!

If we try to comprehend this promise with our human understanding, we will short circuit for sure because it does not seem possible that God would be constantly thinking of us. I am so thankful that our Heavenly Father is not limited by our own human limitations! The truth is that He can do whatever He wants, however He wants to do it.

My prayer for each one of us today is that we would become more aware of the longing in our Papa's heart for us. He is thinking about you RIGHT NOW! And right now, and right now again! Isn't that amazing? The God of the universe cannot stop thinking about you and me! May this life-changing truth sink deep down into the depths of our heart and transform us more and more on the inside.

Zephaniah 3:17
Yahweh, your God, is in the midst of you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.

Promise #246: You can rest in My love, for I have power to save you.

I know that I often say that many of the promises are my most favorite, but this is really one of my favorite Old Testament Bible passages. What a picture of God's intimate heart for His kids! He says that He lives right in the midst of us, that He is mighty to save us and that He rejoices over us with great joy and singing!

This is one of those amazing images in the Bible that speaks of a Father's delight for His children. I believe that the connotation here is that God is actually not able to contain Himself with the joy that He has for us. My prayer today is that each and every one of us would be able to let this image go deeper into our hearts than it has ever gone before.

God is excited over your life! He is so happy that He sings His love songs over you and me. Part of the promise of this one Bible verse is that because God really does love us and He has power to save us, we can rest in His love. We don't have to be afraid any longer. He is big, He is strong and He is mighty to save us! All we have to do is yield to His love today and rest in His arms.
