To our beloved community members. THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM YOUR FRIENDLY MODERATOR. PLEASE READ!
At this time of year, joy is in the world, spirits are high and excitement is bubbling over. There is, however, one slight “Grinchy" issue that is causing some Christmas time calamity...our good ole friend called SPAM!
Your posts are the lifeblood of this community that keep everything going, but when someone comes along and adds something that is either irrelevant, disengaging or just down right rubbish, myself, +Scott Kleinberg
and +Jeremy Brown
find ourselves in yet another face palm predicament.Because of this, we are changing the criteria with which we moderate your posts. Removals will be swifter and more direct and bans will be decided much more freely. We are cleaning up the lifeblood of our community, people!
As we value moderator/member transparency, here is a simple diagram to give you a top level view on this new criteria. For your guidance, there are 3 post types that we accept: Introductions, Discussions and Knowledge Shares
. Introductions are obvious; Discussions ask questions; and Knowledge Shares, believe it or not, share knowledge. Each post type has rules for its content, and if this content is in violation of any of the steps outlined in the diagram below, it will be removed immediately and you may be banned as well
And, before you seasoned members start panicking, there will be a "3 strikes and you're out" policy before banning is considered. If you're new here, take time over your quality control because this leniency doesn’t apply right away.
We feel it necessary to tell you that all members are welcome to dispute any post removals, but once per removal
only. We reserve the right to deny any re-posting requests and our decisions are always
So, please, before posting, just have a glance at this diagram to make sure you're good to go. Hopefully, this will encourage some self-moderation on your part, so that your carefully constructed contributions are kept and appreciated. Not only that, but it will save your Moderator team a job!
...aaaaand, Christmas joy is restored! Thank you to all of you for listening and we appreciate your understanding. Have a great Holiday and thank you for making 2013 the best first year a community could have.
