Imagine, if you will, a tribe of former slaves living in isolated islands, with relative peace. However, in the 1960s, their way of life changes forever. The British (who brought the island from their then self governing colony of Mauritius) forcibly, and against their will, evicted them to the Seychelles, Mauritius, and England. But why would the British commit an atrocity like this? Because these islands, the Chagos Islands, are near enough to be in a strategic location to Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Today it remains, with only the main island Diego Garcia populated by British and American soldiers. Many times have the Chagossians attempted to return. But as recently as 6 months ago the British government refused. Maybe, just maybe, if we get enough people in this community, we can get the British government to see their mistake.
