Does anyone know anything about Culinary Content Network (www.thedailymeal.com)?
I received an invitation via email to become a member of CCN.  They provide either a picture with link back to my post or a link directly to my blog.  All they ask is that I put a link in the header and footer identifying me as a member of the network.
I am doubtful of their intentions and think it may be some kind of a scam.  What do you all think?

For me, it is just a good way to meet new people in the industry. I don't see much of an increase in traffic, but that's okay with me, because I have met so many interesting folks.

Does anyone here submit their recipes to findingvegan.com? If so, how long is the average wait time between submission and acceptance?

I have been contacted by several different food app developers asking to use my images (with direct link to my blog for recipes) in their programs.  Has anyone partnered with any apps and have you seen any traffic develop from your partnerships?

It is so hard to determine what to spend your time on. One one hand, if you get in early on something that really hits, you can see HUGE benefit from it (think of the Pinterest early adopters who now have millions of followers because they got on early and dove in heavily), BUT most of these things don't take off, and you won't see much traffic from it. Its a toss up really. If you have the time to spare, go for it. If you don't, you might be better benefitted from devoting the time to other marketing strategies.

I am so excited to be joining this community, and go figure, I have a HUGE question right off the bat. Does anyone know if there is a way to import your Blogger blog to WordPress without losing content? I started Yumology on Blogger but after reading so many comments on how much better WordPress is I'd like to transfer over, but I don't want to lose my existing brand and recipes. Any advice?

Do any of you know if it is possible to have two YouTube accounts connected to one G+ personal profile? I would like to start doing live cooking class hangouts. I also want to hold promotional product hangouts for my business. The two don't really mix well and would make a YouTube account that didn't really make sense. Any suggestions would be great. I do prefer to do the hangouts from my personal profile and not my business profiles.

Hey friends! Not sure this is the correct category, however, I've been approached by http://mytaste.com to register my blog on their search portal website. If discussion has prevailed here about mytaste please accept my apology for missing it. Has anyone registered/used the site, and what experience have you had?

I've had them for a while now, from back when they were Recipes US. It took forever to start getting traffic from them and I've never actually seen my content on their site, but I get about 1% of my monthly traffic from them.

Just curious--how many blog posts/articles do you write per week on average? -Marc

I post 3 times per week - Monday, Thursday, Saturday - but occasionally a 4th post pops up for a linky or other unusual reason. I try to write posts per week though so that I can have some spare posts available to schedule for if I get too busy or sick.

I have a question for the community that has eluded me. A year ago, I self-published a specialty cookbook on Create Space/Amazon for print and Kindle. In the last several months, I've received Google alerts that showed some posts of illegal downloads, such as this one I got today: http://ebookee.org/Baked-Chicago-s-Simply-Decadent-Brownies-Cookbook-eazydoc-com_2478632.html

The first few times I got similar alerts, I attempted to reach out to the website promoting the illegal downloads (many of which are not in the US so tend to operate under different laws). But I discovered they all seemed to point the finger at "other websites" as the ones with the actual files that were made available for download. It kind of feels like a pyramid scheme of shell "corporations" that just kick the can down the road.

I've been exasperated because I've never been able to make any progress and reached the point that I probably just had to accept it because my tactics weren't working. And I'm not in a position to hire a lawyer to sue these sites (all profits from this book go to charity - which makes this stealing of content sadder).

I've been impressed with the caliber of conversation on this community and have benefited from some very smart contributions from others. So I thought I'd pose this question to the group in case fresh eyes might have a clearer perspective of a better approach to fight this kind of piracy.

Thanks in advance!

How frustrating and disappointing to put so much work into a book only to have it stolen. I don't have a solution but I do feel for you.

Have you ever heard about Etcetal? They have contacted me recently to use some of my photos in their magazine and book. Not sure if this is real or another scam...

http://www.etcetalmagazine.com/  It sure does seem real to me!  I think you can safely jump up and down.  You are getting some great exposure.  Congrats, +Gosia Lamdaouar   By the way, I notice that the logo uses the ampersand, so it may seem like something different, but the url spells it the way you wrote it.  Maybe you can use their contact form to verify the person who contacted you.

Anyone ever heard of "Num Service?" Supposedly, they handle domain registrations in China and are checking with me because somebody is trying to register my blog name over there. I'm not sure if this is legit or a ploy to get me to pay them to "protect" my brand.

I received the same sort of email. It's a scam. I think these emails come from several different sources but they're all saying the same basic thing and they're from China. Delete Delete Delete!

I wrote a concise post on Medium about my experiences crowdfunding a cookbook. I was not the author of the book, but my partner and I designed the book and handled the campaign pr. The campaign goal was modest, but we hit it in only 4 days and went on to bring in double. Our client did not have an established following, so gaining exposure was a challenge. I think this might be helpful to those who dream of having a hardcopy book printed one day. I am happy to answer any related questions that you may have. #cookbooks   #selfpublishing   #design   https://medium.com/all-things-crowd/175fc14ffb88

Maybe a bit off-topic, but fingers crossed and good thoughts being sent to the massive number of Patch editors who were laid off across the country this week. A number of them doubled as food writers and wore many hats while dealing with a flawed business model. I dealt with a number of them on the food end of things, and so many of them were great writers and good people.  -Marc
