When you go on vacation your mental state changes radically. It would be a shame to waste a mental state so propitious to give some clarity to your life. #productivity #gtd

Do you have all of these elements in place for your targets?
Targets help focus attention towards the outcomes that matter most. I've written this post from an organizational perspective, but you can also apply these ideas to personal goals. Clear, measurabl...

I used to rely on my memory when I loaned things to other people. It seemed like a simple enough thing to remember. I'd have lost a lot less stuff if I'd just written it down.
Have you ever loaned an item to someone and felt certain you'd remember it? I’ve done it many times. Then my attention turns elsewhere and that's the last I think of it until one of two things happ...

Carbo is an interesting new iOS app for capturing, editing and sharing handwritten notes. I've only been using it a few days, but it looks promising - especially for single page diagrams. Check out my review.
Carbo sounds like a diet or nutrition app, but Creaceed's new offering bridges paper-based capture and digital manipulation of your ideas. Some apps use a

Self tracking has had a huge impact on my productivity practice.  Here is how it all started... http://www.bobstanke.com/the-quantified-life/002
My obsession, er... I mean interest, in self tracking started back in 1998, when I was a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.  What started as a simple class assignment has turned into a 17-year journey of quantifying my life. In this week's episode of "The Quantified Life", I tell the story about how my tracking journey started and where I am with it now.  It is a unique story, and little did I know back in 1998 th...

I've been relatively quiet on G+ (and social media in general) since the start of my new year on February 2nd. This short video - less than three minutes long - gives some reasons why.

You can use your aversion to loss as a #motivation strategy to complete the projects and tasks which are the hardest to get done.

A cool pen(cil) case for the fans of analog productivity.
The Japanese seem to have a thing about stationery. Perhaps the cultural significance of calligraphy is behind this fascination. Whatever the reason, Japan

Did you know you can save Evernote searches so they are easy to recall for future use? Find out how...
My previous post described how you can use Evernote shortcuts to quickly access saved searches. I neglected to explain how to create a saved search though.

The idea of paying yourself first is nothing new, but have you considered how it applies to areas of your life other than your finances?
Pay yourself first is a fundamental principle for building financial assets. You save some money — however small the amount — as soon as you receive income.

IdeasOnCanvas released MindNode 2 for Mac a few days back. Here's my review of an excellent mind mapping tool. It's 33% for the next week or so too.
I started using mind maps years ago and found them particularly useful for planning projects, brainstorming, and planning written work. MindNode 2's

A great productivity app that I love, is Actions for iPad and is now free on the App Store! It transforms your device in a controller for every installed software on Mac and PC, meaning no more keyboard shortcuts to remember or getting lost in menu navigation but keeping focus only on the tasks without distractions. Touchable, customizable pads and also the possibility to create macros for repetitive tasks. My workflow has been greatly improved. :)

Yes +Julie Wills, iOS only for now. Seems to be lots of demand for an Android version.

+Anita Neville I haven't had any real problems with uploads to Evernote. Most of what I've scanned recently has been to email to other people though.
