For my eighth documentarian style blog I am taking a short detour from my Star Wars and Doctor Who Mythology series, in order to revisit the controversy of Disney’s invalidation of the Star Wars: Expanded Universe (EU). I first start out by examining the latest developments with Disney’s current Star Wars projects, which include Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. After giving my assessment on Rebels and Episode VII: TFA I go on to express my angst with finding out that the Lucasfilm story-group is backing Disney’s decision to de-canonize the entire Star Wars EU, and that the likes of Pablo Hidalgo and Leland Chee are in full support of invalidating the Star Wars EU and rebooting it. I then examine the reasons why they choose to do this, while I gave a strong critique against their propaganda. I then state my deductive proposition on the real reason behind Lucasfilm/Disney’s decision to invalidate the Star Wars EU. Then through the rest of this blog I give a defense of my proposition by examining five typical excuses for the invalidation of the Star Wars EU, while I use logic and evidence to demonstrate why those excuses are irrational and incoherent.

On re-reading this classic, I was very struck by the clever use of language. “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” was first published in 1966, the setting is 2075-6. Heinlein gives his viewpoint character a plausible future Moon dialect of English; a number of…

I remember clearly reading this story when it was first published in Omni magazine in 1979, when I was very young. I have just re-read the story for the first time since then and was surprised and pleased to see how well I remembered it. That is the sign…
