New Plex /Roku preview app. available for Plex/Pass subscribers.
There are still a lot missing from this app., like Channels, but when it is completed it will be much much nicer than the current clunky version.
Plex organizes all of your personal media, wherever you keep it, so you can enjoy it on any device. Stream your videos, photos, and music anytime, anywhere.

BTW if anyone is having trouble using Plex on an Android TV device I found out yesterday that there is a setting for TV or Mobile. If it is not set to TV it does not work consistently.

Don't know if any of you saw this on Lifehacker, but I found it very very insightful.
It's easy to forget, but there are a lot more ways to stream movies and TV besides Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. Here are some of the best--sometimes free--legal alternatives out there.

It's hard for me to believe +Pluto TV has as few followers as they do. This service is really amazing and they deserve to have a lot more people using their service. Do yourself a favor and check it out. This is what cord cutting is all about.

Promising needs a lot more filters, but early days.
More people than ever are cutting their ties to big cable, and opting to either cut the cord, or just dramatically pare down their cable TV packages...

This is more or less a list of private channels for Roku  You will need a memory card on your device if you add to many channels.

Remember to go to settings and click update if you would like to view channels right away after adding.  Right now there are over 2000 channels including Adult. you can Google Roku Private Channels to find more also MKVstream lists other devices and links if your interested

Not all of these will be working 100% all the time

You probably ask whats my favorite channel Tunein Radio Pro since i can listen to thousands and thousands of radio stations  i picked up up as a paid version on the Google Play store a few years ago for a $1 and the login credentials work the same on the Roku

Kids Package for Sling TV Review:

The basic package of Sling TV comes with couple family-friendly channels including Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and ABC Family.

For $5 more, you can get the Kids Extra which includes Disney Junior, Disney XD, Boomerang, BabyTV and DuckTV.

In our household, my toddler loves watching the live stream of Disney Junior for Sofia The First, Sheriff Callie, Miles from Tomorrowland and more.  I like watching Disney XD for Star Wars Rebels and The Avengers.  Our toddler and baby also like watching Baby TV and Duck TV (for babies and small children).

For now, we've got access to Watch Disney Junior and XD through Cord Borrowing (but this may go away soon).  We also have access to Baby TV through Hulu Plus (without the live stream).

All in all, I'd say SlingTV with Kids Extra is well worth the $25 if you have small children or even older kids.

Screenshots are from iOS and Mac, but I've also got SlingTV on Roku and Windows.

Here's my initial impressions of Sling TV Over-The-Top service for Windows, Mac and iOS.  I haven't had a chance to try with my Roku's at Home yet, but the platform looks great so far.

I signed up for 7-Day Free Trial for Basic ($20) and Kids Pack ($5) because our household are heavy users of Disney Junior (for my toddler) and Disney XD (for myself).  My Toddler enjoys watching the Live Stream for Disney Junior, and I enjoy watching Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD.

The Basic Package includes Watch ESPN Sports Channels, CNN for News, TBS and TNT for Entertainment and Disney Channel for Kids (among other channels).

I was able to test on my Desktop PC (Windows 7), Mac Pro (Snow Leopard) and iPhone 5 (iOS 8).  All platforms work great but the PC and Mac have higher fidelity due to faster connections (100MB).  Sling TV worked acceptably on 3MB Wireless connection and probably better quality at higher speeds.

The only caveat I can see is that you can only have one-device logged and streaming at once.  I'm not sure if this is something that will be improved upon a later time.  Otherwise, this is a great alternative for those who want these kinds of content and channels.

UPDATE:  I was able to test on my Roku 3 when I got home.  I had to add the channel using both Sling TV's and Roku's website.  After that, I ran an update to Roku's Firmware and then the channel showed up!  The look-and-feel of the interface is responsive and intuitive (similar to the other platforms).  I was able to watch live streams of ESPN Sports Center, Disney Junior, Disney XD and Duck TV (for babies).  Works great but I did notice I was logged off the Roku when I logged into my Mac Mini upstairs.

Watch ESPN3 with Sling TV. Feb 18, 2015 by Glenn Eisen. What's better than sports? More sports! With Sling TV, you can now access even more action on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app and WatchESPN.com. That means you get more sports with your Sling TV subscription. Just download the WatchESPN app or ...

Just started using Sling TV on my Roku, Amazon FireTV and several Android devices.  Only complaint so far is the limit of one viewer at a time. I have a household of 6 with over 12 Sling TV capable devices.  Sling TV cut the cord on user limits!

I just purchased the 3 month trial for Sling TV and a discounted Amazon Fire TV. Once the Fire TV comes in I'll post how it works there. So far the IOS version pretty responsive.

Yeah, the one stream limitation is a major letdown +Daniel Luck. Thankfully they now have ESPN 3/Watch ESPN authentication working, which will help me. But I think they would attract a lot more subscribers if they supported more devices and allowed two or three simultaneous streams for families. Those are the main reasons Netflix is kicking everybody else's butts in streaming services.

Single stream is a pain in the butt, but not a deal breaker for me. As long as my wife let's me watch The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul once AMC is onboard, she can have first dibs the rest of the time.

One of the problems with using Android on a Kit Kat generic box (minix, clodnetgo etc)  is that you are most times forced to use a modile app. that is designed for the wrong screen size etc. If  we could just use  the web browser we would be fine. Many apps also force you to use wifi because they do not think you are connected to a network, which  causes me lots of grief.
Why they can't give you the option of using a browesr or ethernet  is beyond me. Maybe they think the market is too small but I bet there are hundreds of thousand of these boxes out there.
Regardless they are still the most flexible way to connect in a small package.

Interesting Private Channel for Roku also for IPTV if you useing Plex.
See my comments on the Roku Private Channels post i made recently for more information.

There is a new private channel for Roku that has potential to be one of the most popular Roku Channels public or Private. The channel is called Channel PEAR.

Channel PEAR will let users add a new world of sources to their Roku players.
The channel, (which is spelled correctly this way) started as a project by development company Jidly looking for a way to play MRS playlists. It becoming is a multi-purpose tool that adds multiple media services in an online database that users can edit. It also allows users to access free to air Internet based media and link personal files to a cloud-based system where their files will be accessible without the need of a local server (computer) in order to access it. The idea reminds me of Plex or XBMC. Users can customize their choices using Internet sources as well as their own personal playlists and keep the entire set up private. Once set up users can watch live TV on a Roku with Channel PEAR.

https://channelpear.com/media/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MCJHrtIPfo
channel PEAR is a collaborative, cloud-based media library that lets you instantly add, manage, and watch content across your favorite devices from free-to-air channels, our community media database, and more.

Further to the comment about channels displaying only  clips. I think it is a time zone thing as most work now. Much of the source seems to be Slovenian which must be shutting down in the Slovenian night, Intenresting how international this all is.

If you were a fan of the Australian series, H20 Just Add Water, then you make like the Netflix Original, Mako Mermaids: An H20 Adventure.  I had first heard about the H20 series when I had cable, and they played the original series on Nickelodeon.

Here's the link for Mako Mermaids on Netflix:
http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/70281343?trkid=13462047

Mako Mermaids: An H20 Adventure is a kid and family friendly TV series about three mermaids and their adventures and exploits.  In 2013, Netflix released Season 1.  This week in 2015, Netflix released Season 2 of the series.  Some of the actors and actresses have changed but characters seem the same so far.

Since many kids watch Netflix, they are producing their own original series like this one, Dreamworks Puss in Boots and others.
