So thanks to +Glass Almanac for posting this video. Interesting thing to note there is a help button in the drop down in the myglass app. I'm not seeing it is anyone else? Otherwise I think there may be a myglass app coming in the near future as well.

Build Glassware quickly with JavaScript

Development on Glass needs to be simple and fast.  It's very personal and tweaking things for your own use or making niche applications is going to be common, going through the standard Android app development takes too long for exploring a new idea.  We're taking our experience hacking on Glass (see http://openshades.com for details, previously called openglass) and are developing the tools we think are missing to really let Glass shine.  The first of these tools is WearScript, and our goal is to minimize the time it takes to prototype on Glass.

WearScript is a library that allows you to execute Javascript on Glass that can interact with the underlying device (e.g., control/sample sensors/camera, send timeline items, draw on the screen).  We have gone through many iterations to develop a streamlined user experience to write code and execute it on Glass, and I think we are very close.   This is much simpler than Android development, but more powerful than the built-in browser.  The features we are releasing today are sufficient to make a wide range of applications, but if you've seen our previous videos you can be sure there is more to come.   With your help we can build an open ecosystem around Glass.  I'm particularly excited about the possibilities for accessibility, where being able to customize Glass' behavior allows for tailor made applications to assist people in their daily lives.  Installation/code/docs can be found at http://wearscript.com and we are active in   #openshades  on IRC freenode if you'd like to participate.

My new broadcasting rig: Hangouts/Glass/Chromecast
Part of the fun of me being R&D Guy for my company is not only getting to mess with new concepts, but sometimes retrofitting other ideas. I'm running Hangouts on my laptop, Glass and Nexus 7, tab casting the entire browser session to Chromecast, to see how high-quality we can make the session as a de facto satellite truck for live field interviews that we use on the air during the news.

I'm specifically stress-testing Hangouts' new HD support, audio on Glass and Chromecast's mirroring latency under variable bandwidth conditions (WiFi, MiFi, 4G/LTE, 4G). So far, so good!

If we can get this stable, we'll run a studio HDTV monitor as an input into our control room board and broadcast out the video stream - voila! A live, remote, portable, two-way interactive feed without the cost of satellite time and a really expensive truck.

This is going to rock for sports coverage.

Have you seen this great video from +Purple, Rock, Scissors?!
It's a great mockup, and I think drives home what exactly +Google Glass  should, and will, become: a pure answer engine.
In the production version of #Glass  we won't have to navigate through the timeline to find and access glassware, or worry about pinning it, which gets very messy. Just like this video demos, "Ok, Glass" will be the true heart of all actions on Glass.

Submitting Glassware requires a fair few icons. I can't stand making icons. So I forked the wonderful Android UI Utils project and started changing it to deliver Glass specific icons.

So this is the really-fast first version; you can add your own start image and it'll generate on the fly in the browser (no data is sent to the server). Download your zip file and sha-bam, you have icons for your Glassware submission.

Find an issue? Let me know and I'll fix it or send me a pull.

Google Glass explorers: here's another new app to try out:

https://zapier.com/blog/google-glass-gets-connected-200-services/

It's one of the apps that was entered in our contest. I'm helping the team judge the best ones right now. You'll meet several of them at  Techcrunch Disrupt next week in the studio +Rackspace has built for me (come say hi, it's right by the front door).

I arranged for a $1100 off discount. Use ScobledSF2013-extend at http://disruptsf2013.eventbrite.com

More like this all next week. If you are building something Google Glass related, let me know!

Oh, and if you are a startup we're building a Google Glass coworking space in San Francisco, too at our offices at Folsom and Second Street. Great location, if you are interested, drop me a line or check out http://geekdom.com/san-francisco

Just learned that Y Combinator graduate +Estimote will be one of the first companies located there too (we're gonna have quite a contextual time!)
Our blog talks about our passion for customers and technology. Join us!

A Bluetooth remote for Google Glass! Now four keys are mapped to Escape, Left, Right, Return and they work well in Glass interface. Still trying to figure out better mapping.
