In the last post we configured static routes so the vm web-a 172.168.10.10 could reach the external layer 3 router 192.168.100.1 Static routes are probably going to be exceptions, and most deployme…

Today is a great day for Zettagrid…we have officially released our NSX Advanced Networking feature that extends the networking functionality of our vCloud Based Virtual Datacenter product. The release is as significant as our initial vCloud Director offering which was the first in the ANZ market in offering a fully automated vCloud Power IaaS offering. What makes this release significant is that apart from us being one of the first…if not the fir...

In doing some testing around NSX Edge deployment scenarios I came across a small quirk in the High Availability Config for the NSX Edge Gateway where by after configuring HA from either the Web Client of through the Rest API you will see that High Availability Status as Down in the Web Client even though its Enabled and you have two Edge Appliances deployed.

Had a situation pop up today where an NSX Edge needed to be moved from it's current location to another location due to an initial VM placement issue. At first the VM was vMotioned from one Cluster to another via the Web Client...however when the VM was brought back online the NSX Edge Status in the Web Client showed the error below:

NSX for vSphere version 6.2 was made Generally Available earlier today and there has been some significant updates and improvements to the Network Virtualization Platform from the 6.1.x releases. Most of the improvements revolve around the cross vCenter functionality and enhances to the Distributed features and dynamic routing. There are also a number of operational and troubleshooting enhancements.

For virtualization system admins coming into virtualized networking, "simple" stuff like adding static routes can leave you scratching your head... this might be helpful

In the last post we added an ESG, but still need to configure routing that allows our vm web-1 172.16.10.10/24 to reach the vyos/physical router 192.168.100.1/24 First up open an ssh session…

Nsx Eventually support vcloud director.. is that means we can defind a range of vxlan id and the vapp network can get vxlan id from that pool :)

The SSL VPN-Plus feature has been around since the VSE 5.x days and as I've found out was possibly the best underused feature of the VSE. Contributing to it's lack of use was the fact that the functionality was not exposed via vCloud Director so one of the best use cases for the SSL VPN remained hidden to those that might have taken advantage of it the most.

When working with NSX you have the option to create logical switches that are bound by Transport Zones…within those Transport Zones you could have a single vSphere Cluster or a number of Clusters that may or may not span different VLANs or Subnets. For those that have created NSX Logical Switches that span multiple clusters within a Transport Zone at some stage you may need to test connectivity between the VTEPs to ensure VXLAN is working as expe...
