A little post on new diffusion-based MRI techniques for brain mapping  - can neural activity be read out from diffusion events secondary to spikes?

Hey all!  I'm a neuro PhD student and I've been blogging about BAM and the BRAINI since the beginning.  I'm generally very excited about it!  I've been compiling a list page that I try to update every few days or so of stuff people on the internet are saying about the endeavor:

Hi Sean, So glad you will facilitate/moderate and have begun this. My interest is located within my own initiative to learn about this far-reaching, even astounding move forward into the inner space of the mind. I am enrolled in the online class of Dr. Idan Segev through coursera, which has stimulated my neurons to want more from this subject.

Nice to meet you and other members.

Welcome, Gary.

To all,
It is worth mentioning that I am in no way receiving funding from the government for the BRAIN intiative.  Also, I am not a professional scientist. Perhaps this will make me less biased as far as funding and such is concerned.  I am however very interested in this initiative.  That being said, I would surrender the owner or moderator status if there's an agreement of inadequacy.  If anybody wants to be a moderator or wants to nominate somebody, I am all ears.

Main issues for creating Brain Activity Maps are power delivery, consumption, and heat dissipation of recording, stimulating, communicating, moving and manipulating neural hardware.

Hey folks, I have been covering the important stories in neuroscience this year with a critical eye for the future implications of each. I am a BAM optimist and very interested in BCIs, tickertapes, barcodes, and transparent brains. Usually post them on Phy.org, MedicalXpress.com, or Extremetech.com and try to do several each week. Also keeping more or less a master list of them here:

I think most of audience of this Community know about my blog, but in case some of you have not seen it, I've been writing about BRAINI (and BAM) for the last few weeks. Most recently I take on an argument presented by Donald Stein that the project is too vague and ill-conceived.

I disagree:

First I'd like to share something on the humorous side, so we don't take ourselves too seriously...I post this in reaction to my own incredulity at the fear that resides within and among our American population. Thank you media.

Sorry but I'm maximally subscribed at present. I did do a mildly critical post on some shortcomings of the BRAIN Initiative so far (as I see it) that this group might enjoy.
