The land did not tremble when she stood upon it, like it did for those of war.

The creatures did not hide for fear of reckoning when she walked by, as they did for the armies which streamed forward.

The sky did not pour with tears of rain when it saw her, as it did when when the warriors held their swords.

The blood of those prepared to die did not run cold when she was in their presence, as it did for those who vowed to fight them.

In truth she did not intimidate, frighten, or demand attention as others did. She could not bring herself to war because it was not in her spirit. A sword she could not raise, for to spill the blood of another would be to kill herself. She could only bring herself as a heart of offering and love.

And yet the earth did quake as she laid herself down. The creatures did hide for fear of what may be lost and the skies did pour in sorrow. As she held her heart out as an offering and set her spirit to serve, time itself stood still to see if love would be enough to stop what had come....

She walked the land in silence for miles, until at long last she heard a familiar voice which made her smile.

Her friend, river, had returned at long last after months of sleep which seemed to last and last. She ran to him quickly, her heart full of glee, and they laughed together as the birds watched on curiously. She told him how she had missed him and waited patiently, and he told her how he had missed her and splashed her playfully. Then he told his story to her as she laid along his edge.

"Fall came and with it the cease of rain. I began to dry up and shrink until at last what was left of me succumbed to the great freeze. Winter had arrive and so I went to sleep, but every moment I dreamed of you, beneath the icy sheet. When at last spring began to arrive I unfroze but alas, I could not move or speak to you, for my water had shrunk too much. And so I waited patiently until the spring showers began to revive and move me. I traveled beneath a tunnel full of a rocks and silt, and when I came out the other side, alas I was beautiful and clean! I arrived here as quickly as I could and now I ask of you to step into my running waters and allow me to do the same for you".

She stepped into his waters and did as he had bade and alas when she stepped out again, she was like a brand new being. She loved to be taught by her friend river, and as silly as it may seem, he had so much to teach to any who would simply sit quietly.

oh but to have such a connection to the land that you feel it and it feels you....

To have the centuries old trees hold you up when you are unsteady. Their branches reach down to caress you when you are full of pain and sorrow.

To watch as the great mountains send up their smoke as you give your morning prayers as if in agreement with you. Slow, steady plumes climbing into the sky as your words also rise.

To feel the sorrow as you leave even for only a short time. The rain falling as tears from the sky while the cedars and pines sing a lonesome cry. The fog settling over the land as if to say the sun will never shine again.

To sit upon the ground and gently touch in comfort the trees which surround. As you whisper ever so sweetly through the tears falling from your own eyes "I will return soon, I promise"....

She stood staring into the forest ahead of her...

The wind blowing through the trees beckoned to her "come into my world and be free". She felt it's alluring caress upon her skin and ventured forth to dance with it.

The fox scampering about looked at her and pleaded "come into my world and play with me". She was drawn by his playful request and ventured forth a bit further to join his hide and seek game.

The trees bent their branches toward her and entreated "come and climb our branches to new heights". She felt their feather soft leaves upon her cheek and ventured forth further into the forest to climb to new heights.

The caves and eaves beneath the canopy called to her "come and explore our world full of mystery". She was intrigued by the adventure and so she ventured deeper into the forest to where the sunlight grew dim to find great surprises.

The man of the shadows bent his hand toward her from deep within the forest and said sweetly "come dear angel and share your light with me for I have waited for you all of time". She came closer toward him but stopped after a moment when she heard a softly whispered "no". With a sad look she walked away.

Each day she returned to the forest to play and explore. And each day he watched from the shadows as she inched closer and closer toward him. He watched longingly as the days grew into weeks and the weeks into months.

He did not mind waiting; after all he had waited thousands of years for her and soon they would have eternity together in his forest kingdom...

Can anyone help me with a question? I've always felt pulled to stones, herbs, energy work, etc. I just found out today that my Great-Grandfather had the ability to remove the "evil eye" from people and that it was passed down in our (Italian) family. I've also been told that in a former life I was a gypsy . I'd love to hear from anyone who had some insight into gifts being passed down, impact from former lives, etc. This is probably 25 questions, not just one. Thanks in advance for being patient with me. :)
