WHO ARE YOU?

Tell me
Who are you?
When you roll in the mud
And your white is soiled
Will you die in the mud?
Or will you look up to the Lord?

So who are you?
Tell me
Judas?
He knew sin
He did sin
He struggled with the guilt
And then it killed him
Thirty pieces of silver…the price of betrayal
He ended it at night
He gave up the fight
With no one in sight
He let the thread snap

So who are you?
Tell me
Peter?
Strong Peter slipped
He did sin
Three times he denied his King
The guilt enveloped his being
He wept so hard in repentance
But he didn’t give up at night
He waited for the morning
Cephas he was
He thrived

So tell me
Who are you?
When you roll in the mud
And your white is soiled
Will you die in the mud?
Or will you look up to the Lord?

I STARE AT YOU

I stare at you
You have no clue why
Some say I’m weird
I really don’t care
I stare
I’m not interested in your looks
I’ve read your books
I’m more interested in you
You
Simple yet complex
Full of mysteries
Full of tales
You get uncomfortable
I don’t care
I still stare
I drift away in thoughts
What would it feel like to see your world through your eyes?
To know the things you know
To see the things you see
To feel the things you feel
You smile almost all the time
But I see the tears no one sees
Your looks tell a different tale
Your books tell a different tale
But now that I see you
I see a different tale
I find you rather fascinating
I’m captivated by your complexity
You’ll make a good muse
Oh yes, that’s good use!
I stare just for a while
A little while longer
I drink in your aura of wisdom
Wise one you are
Smart too
You get uncomfortable
I shouldn’t care
But now I do
I’ve seen the truth
I’ve seen the sadness behind that smile
Pretty sad you!
I look away
And take a bow

DESCRIBE IT

If you could describe it
What words would you choose?
How would you describe it?
Some say it looks like this
Others say it looks like that
I hear them talk
I hear them talk about the weather
They say it’s beautiful
Some say they need an umbrella
Others wish to run around naked
But truly
I have forgotten what it looks like
The price of the sentence
These concrete walls have stolen my joy
I’m trapped in a room with a little window
The window is far too high
All I see is…a little light
And then total darkness
I miss the feel of rain against my skin
I miss walking on the beach and feeling the sand beneath my feet
I miss looking at pretty flowers
I miss watching the birds sing so sweetly
I miss nature
I miss real life
Not this!
This room of deep dolor robs me of the beauty of the day
It’s been too long
My back hurts
Memories hunt me
The guards don’t speak to me
All they do is pass me food through a hole
A silly hole in the door
What am I? A rat?!
Sanity is something I miss!
A better life is something I long for!
This is too much to bear!
I need you to describe it!
Please!
Come closer to the door
Tell me what it looks like
Describe the day to me
Please describe it!

WRITE ME A NIGHT POEM

Write me a night poem
Be kind and patient
Sit with me for a while
I love to see you smile
Hey…here’s my pen
Write me a poem
Write a poem of eight lines or ten
Let the words rhyme
Oh please, take your time
Come sit with me
Here’s a sheet
Write me a poem
Say you love me
Say I’m beautiful
Say things like…loo loo woo woo
I’ll say them too
Just write me a poem
Watch me drift away in sleep
Silly acts I love
Just sit with me
Watch me breathe softly
Then tuck the poem under my pillow
And even though you are gone when I awake in the morning
I’m quite certain it would never be boring
Your poem I shall keep
Kind words of love
Warm words that make my heart leap
Forever to be cherished
Sweet poetic words to be relished

THE SOWER

She gathered her seeds
Her seeds of good deeds
It was time to plant again
The season for sowing
She scouted around for good land
Seeds in her hand
She walked in love
In search of good soil
Not too much toil
Very little sweat
She found her land
Good, fertile soil
She planted the seeds
The seeds of kindness
Seeds of good deeds
She watered them with love
Selfless love
Pure love
Soil wet
She watched them grow
Beautiful trees so tall and strong
Spring green leaves
Sweet and juicy fruits
What a great harvest!
She filled her bags
And strolled off in joy
Some she kept
< So much left >
Some she gave
< It still remained >
Some she sowed
< And the cycle continued >
With great joy, she sowed again
With great joy, she harvested
The story of the sower
The sower of good deeds

THE TEARS WON’T STOP

I try to fight back the tears
They keep coming
They keep pouring
I throw my head back
What a joke!
They don’t stop
They keep flowing
They need to stop!
Come on…please!
I need to stop crying
I try to feign a smile
But that doesn’t help
The dam burst
The tears poured
Now I can’t stop them
This can’t continue!
Someone help me!
Anybody!
I should have control!
I must stop this!
The tears keep flowing
Why?!
I try to forget your name
The memories we shared
The thought of you being gone
The pain
The memories of seeing you take your last breath
You struggling for life
You on the hospital bed
The pain!
Oh!
I try!
I’m trying!
Lord help me!
The tears keep coming
The pain of loss
The death of a loved one
The pain that tears my heart apart
The pain I feel
You are gone!
Breath gone!
You gone!
The tears won’t stop
