So what are your thoughts on the 2014 Forester? Finally getting the CVT automatic. A fuel cutting move to a 2.0 turbo for the XT?
Rob Kennedy: Agree. The cvt should have been in all models when it was first introduced. Not sure why it wasn't. Of course I bought a 2012 with the crappy 4speed auto. Every day I wish it was a 6spd manual...also something I don't understand for the turbo xt model.
Rob Kennedy: The 2L does seem small but they've managed to get some decent numbers out of it. They're trying to compete in a fuel consumption conscious market with a platform that traditionally isn't all that fuel efficient. Got to do what they got to do. Smaller Direct injection motors is the future for gas powered cars. My DI solstice gxp motor was making almost 300 whp so the little motors can perform when modified appropriately.
Rob Kennedy: Yeah the fuel system is a whole factor more expensive. Bosch is a big supplier of the injectors and has a decent wire up on how they work. At idle the piston essentially works like a diesel. My solstice injectors used to sound like the internals of a clock ticking away similar to high pressure desire injectors.
