I'm brand new to Clooz and I'm a little lost, although I see the possibilities! I'm trying to enter my own birth certificate. On the record template, what are the purposes of the Date and Document # fields?

In celebration of the 4th anniversary of the release of Clooz 3, Ancestral Systems is awarding all Clooz user having currently active upgrade support a bonus year of support. This will be reflected on the License Status form accessible from the Clooz Help menu (versions 3.5.16 and later). Users must update to 3.5.16 to see the extra year. New Clooz purchases and renewals of update support by July 31 will also receive the bonus year of support. Be sure to checkout all the details at http://clooz.com/support/updates
If your support has expired, renewal periods begin as of the last expiration date. It a great way to recover when your support has lapsed within the past 6 months.

It's been four years since Clooz 3.0 was first publically release in July 2012. Checkout the newly published development roadmap including Clooz 4 and beyond at http://clooz.com/clooz-development-roadmap-24-july-2016/

I use a raft of programs to manage my research. I like to write up Blogs and stories and add my source citations as I go. Is there anyway to copy a source citation directly out of Clooz?
I can import it into Legacy Family Tree and access it that way but I haven't been able to find way to directly access the citation in Clooz itself. I have searched in HELP but don't seem to be able to find what I'm looking for.
I don't necessarily import all the documents I have into Legacy if they are not directly relevant to my family, however I might still use them to write up what I have done or to explain my negative research results.
Thanks
Sandra

Hi All,
I'm currently evaluating Clooz using the free trial.
One thing I've noticed is that there are only a limited number of Census record types. This is not a major problem as the majority of my relatives lived in the UK & Ireland with a fair number in Canada and a few in the US. However I do have a number of people in Australia, New Zealand etc. How do I enter census records for these countries?
I hope someone can advise.
Cheers Keith.

Hello! I was not sure if you are still taking suggestions for the upcoming version of Clooz, but I had a couple of "wish list" items. I really appreciate the way that Clooz has a place for businesses and for buildings...which is yet another thing that sets it apart from other software programs. What I have been trying to do is use the business for a church denomination or religion, such as Society of Friends (Quakers), Mennonites, etc. and then use the buildings for individual congregations. This would help me to easily see what people are part of what congregation and what religion. These items come up frequently in documents (such as marriage location, funeral service, baptism, etc.

I am trying to make it work with the business/building idea, but it would be nice in the future version to have it be easier to adapt for this purpose, as the available fields do not completely do the job this way. For example, in the building, rather than style being a type of architecture, it could be what type of church (synagogue, cathedral, church, house church, meeting house, etc.). The historical information area could have fields such as who started the church, pastors or priests, etc. Documents having to do with that particular church would be attached to the building and then documents related to the entire denomination (such as the history of the denomination, leadership, church-wide conferences, etc.) I am not sure if I am explaining what I mean well enough, but I thought that would be something useful.

I have had Clooz for awhile but am only now starting to use it.

Is there a way to have the RIN's from Legacy family tree imported into the Alternate ID field in Clooz?

Announcement

In December 2011 I saw a notice that Elizabeth Kerstens Kelly had to drop her brainchild genealogy program Clooz for a variety of reasons.  As a Clooz user since its initial introduction, I knew the potential of the program for my own genealogy research, so I contacted Elizabeth in hopes that I could take over Clooz.  Elizabeth and I reached an agreement, and I became the owner of all future editions of Clooz on 1 January 2013.  As soon as my announcement went public, I was contacted by Rich Thomas who was also a long time user of Clooz.  Rich possessed the technical programming skills that I lacked, coming from a government career in Information Technology.  Given our complementary skills and interests, Rich and I formed the Ancestral Systems LLC partnership.  Clooz has grown in capability over the last four years and is currently undergoing a complete rewriting for the next version due to be released Spring/Summer 2016.

During this period my advancing age and personal family health issues began to interfere with my ability to properly support the company and Clooz.  Early this fall it became apparent to me that it was time to relinquish my role and ownership in Clooz.

It is with great pleasure (and a little sadness) that I can tell you that on 1 January 2016 Rich Thomas will become the sole owner of Ancestral Systems LLC, and the headquarters will move to Maryland.

I deeply appreciate the loyalty and frequent information exchanges with our valued clients.  I have no doubt that the future for Clooz is bright, and that Rich will continue to provide inovative advances for our users.

I will probably pop up from time to time, just to keep my finger on the pulse.

Thanks for all of your support,

Joe Bissett

We wish all of our users and friends a most joyous and happy holiday season.
Rich and Joe
