Discussion  -

¡Hola! Hello.

We are new to this community and would like to share who we are.

Pkeños is a fun, free educational project aimed at promoting family-based learning of English as a foreign or second language in Spain.

Pkeños - English for you and you kids!

With collaborators we carefully select and create videos, songs, games, books and other materials (often targeted at an English speaking audience) to present to interested Spanish or Catalan speaking families.

As well as pointing them in the direction of these valuable resources, we provide suggestions on how parents can use them to help them and their children learn English.

Thank you!

I've cooked meatballs thousands of times. It's a Ukrainian staple, a traditional part of our cuisine. They always turn out the same – good but nothing to brag about. But recently my friend shared with me a recipe that was, more-less similar to mine, with just a few different spices and cooking ...

Hola, my fellow Spanglishers! We're proudly forging our Spanish Sundays on KidTime StoryTime, and the latest addition to our reading-kid-books-aloud channel is a fairy-in-training named Alicia. As usual, the bilingual Storyteller (that's me) explains what's happening as we go along, so English-dominant kids can still follow along, enjoy & learn.
FELIZ DOMINGO A TODOS!

Stigma is a huge problem facing bilingual families, especially when the home language differs from the dominant language. Who's had experiences with this? How do you overcome it?
Do you speak the same language as your parents? An increasing number of people don't. Can we choose our first language? And at what cost?

When we moved to the USA I was very confident that my 3 year old son will continue to speak Russian. However – within months my confidence was disappearing. My son started to resist. I was surrounded by people who only spoke English. Like water flowing down the path of least resistance – he ...

Why your public library is not irrelevant and could still serve as a powerful aide in your quest for language mastery?

+LanguagesAroundTheGlobe
It may seem these days that the age of the public library has all but run its course. With Internet access more common than not many – if not most – of us have turned away from this traditional font of learning and education. But when it comes to language learning, it’s important for us... Read More
