We are approaching the High Holidays. Let's learn some Hebrew:
The word נוֹרָא literally means: awful (the negative connotation) or: it also means: full of awe - full of respect.
In modern Hebrew it is used as a modifier (adverb) to express 'very' = I'm awfully sorry;
I'm very happy: אנִי נוֹרָא שָׂמֵחַ - ah-nee no-rah sah-me'akh
She's very pretty: הִיא נוֹרָא יָפָה - hee no-rah ya-fa
