Come to our next meetup Monday, March 24 at 6pm and give your input to design a 311 mobile app for Kansas City.  Over the past few months we have looked at the available data, and have looked at some other cities' applications.  Monday night we will take all of the ideas that have been talked about and determine what will be implemented and how.

Please give us some input before the meeting at our hackpad at https://codeforkc.hackpad.com/24-Mar-2014-Hack-Night-311-APP-for-Kansas-City-aLnkcPvVktj

Hello Brigade members!
It's time to start brainstorming our involvement in the annual CodeAcross event. Last year we had our Code for America fellows in town and did a fun day at Kauffman. This year the possibilities are wide open.
Here is the CodeAcross national website:
http://www.codeforamerica.org/codeacross-2014

And here is our Hackpad that we'll use to get organized:
https://codeforkc.hackpad.com/Code-for-KC-CodeAcross-2014-Event-NBqgVcpGx1w

If you have any interest in getting involved, we'd love to have you and could certainly use the help. If you'd like to get involved, please add your name to the Hackpad under "Who will organize," along with any ideas you have for the other fields, and we'll follow up shortly with an organizer kickoff meeting.

Here are the links I mentioned in regard to city planning:

"The point is that we have been perpetuating an error when it comes to how we think about real estate. Our mistake has been looking at the overall value of a development project rather than its per unit productivity."

Are the simplest phones the smartest? While the rest of the world is updating statuses and playing games on smartphones, Africa is developing useful SMS-based solutions to everyday needs, says journalist Toby Shapshak. In this eye-opening talk, Shapshak explores the frontiers of mobile invention in Africa as he asks us to reconsider our preconceived notions of innovation.

Attention KC looks like there is a virus targeting the KC Startup community. The emails are very targeted. I've attached a picture of the HTTP so be careful out there.
