Digital disruption is here...

Hello, I am from Mexico and we are doing a PBL called "around the world". One of my teams is studying about South Africa, is anyone interested on doing a Hangouts call with my kids and having a discussion about the great things about your country.

GEG West Coast invites you to our next Google Educator Group event - 'Share, Show & Tell.'
We'd like to create a space where we can learn from, up skill and inspire one another with ideas around the use of Google Apps for Education. We therefore invite you, educators, school leaders and administrators, to come and share your experiences, show what you do and tell your story about Google Apps in your classroom and/or school.

The event will take place on Tuesday 24 May 2016 at 15:30 at the Parklands College Secondary Faculty and we hope to see many of you there.

Please complete this form should you be willing to share, show or tell something at this event or if you would just like to attend and learn from others. Once submissions have been received, we will send out a more detailed program for the event.

Should you have any queries in this regard, please contact one of your GEG leaders Deïdré (deidreb@elkanah.co.za) or Lindsay (lwesner@parklands.co.za).

Did you know that you can bring beginning coding to your students without any CS experience? With Google CS First (https://goo.gl/3IxZbM) a free program created by Google, students build projects in Scratch and learn beginning coding concepts like looping, sequence and conditionals. Structuring around themes like Storytelling, Art, Music & Sound, Game Design, Sports, Fashion & Design etc., students are inspired to code projects and also to understand the real-life career opportunities and impact of computer science across society.

With over 80 hours of program content and activities, it’s flexible for use after school or in the classroom and no previous coding experience is required for either the teacher or student. All of the content is online, along with training and printed materials that can be shipped to your location at no cost to you. If you are looking for something with staying power in the classroom Google CS First could be the perfect toolkit to get you started.

GEG Cape Town-West Coast hosted our first event for 2016 yesterday at Elkanah House in Sunningdale. What an incredible afternoon spent with dedicated, passionate, inspirational Educators!

Our theme: "Drive your Learning".

Attendees had time to network, share and reflect - great ideas and knowledge shared.
