In our Inaugural Santa Rosa Junior College Invitational, we did amazingly well!
The team exceeded my expectations by a mile! We had 26 Personal Records set!
I want to thank everyone who participated, both Parents and Swimmers.

Most Memorable Moments:
Reilly Welsh and Captain David Mertz showing and went straight to cheering on their teammates!
Megan Ference's 200 Free (first time ever swimming it) she goes under 2:20 with a 2:16.01 placing her 4th!
Rachel Prides 100 Breast she went out strong and held off everyone taking 1st in the event!
JV Girls 200 Free Relay ( Brianna Andersen, Ava Kirby, Linda Jacobson, Michelle Sedgwick) They dominated winning the event by over 10 seconds! In fact the JV girls dominated ALL meet, way to go! They're our Future and that future looks Bright!
JV Boys, swam amazingly well all meet, they didn't look like JV swimmers at all! I don't think they will be JV for long either!
Varsity Girls 400 Free Relay swam away from everyone in the field, with an outstanding leg from Freshman Megan Jones, the team took over and never looked back she told herself "We are not loosing this!" - Megan Jones 9th Grade.
Captain Alex Lewis had a great meet all PR's but his 100 Breast was outstanding with a low seeding he came back strong and finished 7th overall for us!
Jeremiah McManus our only swimmer in his events took 4th overall in the 200 Free with a time of 2:08.33 faster than his best last year by a full second and half!
Trevor Jones had 2 very strong swims for us in 2 very difficult events 500 free and 100 back, he took 3rd overall in both and posted a PR in the 100 back!
Varsity Boys 200 Free Relay took 3rd ( Max Owens, Dante Martinez, Edgar Garcia-Medina, Trevor Jones) and Trevor Jones added another PR 24.92 to his Cache of swims!
Varsity Boys 400 Free Relay took 3rd! ( Max Owens, Dante Martinez, Alex Lewis, Trevor Jones) Ales Lewis just missed breaking the 1:00 mark by .12! but still did a best time and Trevor Jones had the fastest time at the end of long day 54.11!
The team won the Invitational!
Girls 686.5
Boys 427
We scored over 1100 points as a team!
Way to Go everyone!!!

Area's of Improvement:
1) There are 2 reasons for which swimmers can leave a meet early: a medical emergency for the swimmer, or an emergency for a family member) For my 3 years no one has been allowed to leave early. This sends the wrong message to teammates, "I'm done who cares about the rest of it" Not my goal for the team. And if I let swimmers go and a relay swimmer gets hurt or sick I have no back up swimmers. You all have the practice schedule and meet schedule and are expected to be there.
2) I was told by one of our Captains we left a huge mess of trash in our area. We are expected to do our part in keeping our team area clean and the way we found it, if not better than we found it.
3) Cheering, we had the 6 people cheering for teammates. Swimming is something I love a lot, I have seen swimmers overcome amazing feats when they didn't think they could because 1 person cheered for them. Now imagine how much better that same person would do with a roaring team cheering for them, hard to let that many people down. On the other hand if they didn't do well and their team congratulated them anyway all before they got to the Coach! We have all had good races and not so good races but your team can make it better, we win together we suffer together!

Well Done, Panthers. What a GREAT start to the season.

And, we've got another Dine and Donate coming up. This one is at the end of January: Wednesday Jan 27 at the Chevy's restaurant in Railroad Square in Santa Rosa. The time (7:00pm - 9:00pm) is a little inconvenient, but I wanted to give our Neptune swimmers a chance to come by and hang out with their other swim team teammates.

So, spread the word everybody. Let anybody that might be interested in supporting the swim team know.

Looking forward to seeing everybody there.

Dine and Donate.

Print the linked flyer and take it to the downtown Santa Rosa Mary's Pizza Shack on Tuesday the 20th of October. Eat vast quantities of delicious Italian food. Present the printed flyer when you pay your bill and Mary's will donate 20% of the value of your bill to the Santa Rosa High School swim team.

This is good all day, so go for lunch. Go for dinner. Give it to your friends since it's good for takeout and delivery.

Also, it may be good all day, but some of us are going to be there at about 6:45pm. We'd love to see you and catch up.

Well, tomorrow is the start of the NBL swimming championships.  The meet is at the Santa Rosa Junior College pool. The 500 yard freestyle preliminaries are tomorrow. Warm ups start at 3:00pm with the actual competition getting underway at 4:00pm. (There is also a diving competition starting at 12:30 if you go in for that sort of thing.)

The preliminaries for the rest of the events start on Saturday at 9:30am with warmups starting at 8:00am.

This is the last full team meet of the season. There's still the NCS championships, but some of our swimmers won't make it to that meet. So, come out and root for our #panthers .

Mr. Coscarelli, the principal of   #SantaRosaHighSchoolchats   with Coaches Ericka and Leslie at the swim meet vs Casa Grande today. Thank you to Mr Coscarelli for coming out to cheer on #PantherSwimming .

The Panthers had a great day today against Casa Grande high, all three teams carrying the day against their Gaucho conterparts.

The gentlemen of the varsity team won 119 to 35. The ladies varsity won 121 - 55. The ladies and gentlemen of the JV team won 110 - 16.

Well done ladies and gentlemen. That's a great way to end the regular season.

The men's varsity team finish the regular season with a 3 and 4 record. The ladies and gentlemen of the junior varsity team finish with a 5 and 2 regular season record.
The ladies varsity team wind things up with a regular season record of 6 and 1. Outstanding!
