... controversies are not about politics or money and they don't want to hear about yours. The islanders are far beyond empathy to anyone else's perceived slights or negativity. Their interests and passions are about the proper way to interpret Hawaiian fishing rights, or questions over land use.

A short non-fiction  piece I wrote this morning for Untapped Cities - written in the middle  of a flotilla in the Hudson River to greet the Queen Mary 2. On the occasion of the 175th year of Transatlantic crossings by Cunard. Very tired. ;-)
