Hi again! Fraid my share this time isn't quite so 'from scratch', but this quorn "chicken" curry turned out really nice! Found a really good specially selected sauce - from Aldi of all places-  and there was a good mix of vegetables used.

Didn't have my SLR at hand, so these are just iPad photos. To be honest I'm just glad I remembered to snap the final product before my boyfriend ate the whole thing this time ^_^

Last night I decided to do something with this pattypan (or baby squash)  I'd been given a little while ago by a most resourceful urban farmer. Found a good recipe that sauté's it with leek and feta cheese; very easy and quick to make, and not much cleanup involved.

The only problem I had is even though the squash itself had gone tender after a lengthy bit of frying, the outside skin or shell was still rather hard. Everywhere online says unlike squash or pumpkin you aren't supposed to peel them, but after chewing down this meal I'm not so certain. Anyone cooked much with this vegetable who can advise for next time?

Hi! I'm Wendy, and this is my beloved little kitchen. We had it redecorated about 4 years ago (and we certainly won't be doing so again any time soon). I personally like a kitchen with a 'wooden' feel - even our floor tiles are woodlike-linoleum.

Looking forward to sharing (mostly casseroles) with you all!

Hi Everyone! Thought I'd make my debut on this page with some pics of my first successful butternut squash risotto (I use 'successfull' lightly).

Found it particularly hard to get the risotto to the right texture. We (boyfriend and I) cooked it al dente, but after we'd added all our veggie stock we still had to stir in boiling water to get it just near enough to what we wanted. What should have been a 40 min cooking time was more like 2 hours!!

Before you praise the presentation of the finished dish, I should point out that my boyfriend nearly ate all of it whilst forgetting to take any pictures, so as usual I had to save the day...
