Mystical Throne Entertainment has released the latest Ultimate Guides sourcebook for Savage Worlds, Ultimate Settings Guide: Conspiracies. This latest sourcebook provides a reference for GMs to create conspiracies and players to create characters to be involved in or fight those conspiracies. The PDF is available now with a print-on-demand version coming soon.

Ultimate Settings Guide: Conspiracies [PDF: $5.00 | POD: Coming Soon | POD/PDF: Coming Soon]

Conspiracies and conspiracy theories are a weird beast. There have been enough true conspiracies out there that we should be inherently skeptical. And it comes from a natural place. Recent studies have suggested that the major reason human brains are so complex has been in order to outsmart other humans. It is in our nature to make sure others do not outsmart us, and we are perpetually locked in this struggle.

Conspiracies can be a powerful tool in role-playing games. They can be used as plot elements, background storylines, hidden puppet masters, side adventures, or the basis for an entire setting. Ultimate Settings Guide: Conspiracies takes a look at what makes a conspiracy and explores a number of conspiracies in detail. GMs can use this as a reference to create their own conspiracies or insert one of the included conspiracies into an adventure or campaign. Players can use this as a means of driving their character concepts and fleshing out a character's background and motivation.

Ultimate Settings Guide: Conspiracies includes:

An introduction to conspiracies.
Over a dozen detailed conspiracies.
Character options to fight or embrace conspiracies.
Conspiracy-like Arcane Backgrounds.
Alien tech gear.
Non-player characters.
A sample adventure.
A conspiracy building toolkit.
... and more!

Whether part of the conspiracy or working against it, the right tools are needed!

Ultimate Settings Guide: Conspiracies is a guide for conspiracies primarily set in the Modern Age. Although it does discuss conspiracies dating back to the Middle Ages and how to use conspiracies in other genres, the player content and GM tools are designed for the late 1800s to the present.

Mystical Throne Entertainment has just released the quick-start rules book for Little Heroes, a new fantasy storytelling game for families and children. Written by father of 7, Aaron T. Huss, the game has been playtested with children and "approved" for family use! The PDF is available as Pay What You Want and a paperback copy will be available later this month, also in PWYW.

Little Heroes is a storytelling game designed for families and young children. Its mechanics are designed to be simple while encouraging creativity among the players. It’s a lot like telling a bed-time story, but with a lot more interaction.

The Lost Faery is a quick-start rules set providing everything you need to get into a game of Little Heroes.

The Lost Faery includes:

Quick-start rules
Pregenerated Personalities
A short Scenario

High Plains Samurai: The Rehearsal Edition

Many years ago there was only the One Land. One fateful day, Chaos looked down through the clouds and was sickened by its beauty. A world where all creatures were granted purpose to exist and multiply was a appalling sight to him. So he lashed out with all his might. Without warning, the One Land was struck with earthquakes, tornadoes and fires of such magnitude never seen since the Forging millennia before. As ash billowed into the sky and people were sucked into the earth, his children – Honour, Innocence, Balance, Strife and even Patience – came to see what had become of their creation. Shocked by their creator’s homicidal anger they battled Chaos and eventually locked him within the Shard of Hope. The struggle raged in the heart of the One Land and tore it asunder, scarring it with death and destruction from which it would never recover. Amidst this scarred desert, the siblings buried the Shard within a spire of rock now known as Heaven’s Peak and warded it with guardians to ensure the Shard would never break and Chaos would never again roam free. It was here the eldest spirit, Honour, charged a small monastery of humble and dedicated monks with its protection. The Monastery of Divine Hope was built atop Heaven’s Peak, in the arid desert known only as the Wastes. It was here that all of the teachings of the six Spirits – including Chaos – originated. The teachings were spread across the One Land in an effort to guide, encourage and empower the survivors.

Yet such was the intensity of Chaos’ wrath that the One Land was split into man-made boundaries etched in blood on scrolled maps, each ruled by warlords killed and replaced with other warlords over and over for generations. Each rules over their city-states with fists of iron, greed or faith, their people eager to survive in the aftermath of their creator’s wrath, despite the cost. Some have become touched by the radiation of the Wastes and have learned to tap into heights of power never intended for humanity’s reach; some have turned to lesser traits for personal gain. And now something has happened that few have remembered to fear...

The Shard of Hope has cracked.

High Plains Samurai: The Rehearsal Edition is a free public playtest for an upcoming high octane story of wire-fu action in a world of gunslingers, samurai, barbarians, gangsters, and steampunk in a post-apocalyptic wasteland created in the wake of a battle of the gods. These 84 pages contain the complete rules, character creation guidelines, and a playtest scenario involving a train robbery that can only take place in the One Land. Complete surveys and earn playtest points for a chance to gain bonus Kickstarter when HPS turns to crowdfunding later this year.

Told with ScreenPlay, discover what makes this world tick by telling your version of the story to save the One Land from final destruction in the hands of a vengeful bandit leader seeking revenge for innocent blood spilled on sacred lands. Everything you need to experience High Plains Samurai is yours for the taking but the true legend of Black Scorpion will not be revealed until May 2017.

Hercules Invictus has posted yet more Mythos reviews; these one cover the Hero's Handbook and Epic Gamemastering, both for Savage Worlds.…/Mythos__Hero_s_HB.html

Important Announcement:

(That will be rolled into the next Throne Report) Due to the rising cost of printing, and some additional research that I've done, Mystical Throne Entertainment will go back to publishing 6" x 9" books instead of the current 7" x 10". Not only is the smaller size cheaper to print, it is a standard size compared to the 7" x 10" should any of our books go to a larger print run or be available for POD outside of DriveThruRPG / RPGNow. Simply put, it's a more available size and thus it reduces the cost of printing. A new standard format will be rolled out to accommodate this new size.

This new size will be incorporated into the 5th-anniversary revisions that began with Savage Insider Issue #1 this past June. Our standard sizes will now be as follows:

5.5 x 8.5: Fiction, Creative Commons (e.g. Beyond the Firelight & Little Heroes), and Shadowed Earth setting material (i.e. no game mechanics)

6 x 9: Core setting guides, core rulebooks, supplements, adventures

8.5 x 11: Magazines

As an added note, there's a good chance our 6 x 9 books will also be formatted so that they can easily be offered in ebook format.

Please note this doesn't apply to Broken Ruler Games as they will continue publishing games in the size they desire.
