Enough out-of-date stories about brands - tell us about YOU

We all hear about the social media success stories, but they’re usually the same companies (JetBlue, Zappos, Dell) or the same practices (marketing, PR, customer service). And while they’re great examples, there’s much more to it than this.

There’s the human side and the people stories. The things that we can really relate to. So here’s a request/offer. I’d love you to share your social media story with us. Here’s how.

#people   #peopleareawesome

Please be sure to have a read of our community description and guidelines. A lot of new people, or people who haven't spoken up in months or years trying to post to their blogs. We want to promote community over broadcasting - please interact before sharing.

Admittedly, some of us may have been a bit cynical and negative about some of the upcoming changes to social media we know and love, and tools released, but seriously, that Twitter timeline test, putting people's posts in your stream, when you have no personal connection to them, does bother us.

Some great gems of wisdom about the importance of social media, as well as the importance of disconnecting every so often to experience life first-hand. Then you can come back with the lessons and memories and teach others.

HOAs killed the Radio Star.
Is radio dead? Here at +Social Media Hangout, we think not. Listen in as we talk to +Shannon Hernandez, aka the #ShanMan , a radio personality and, as it turns out, Marketing and Google+ aficionado! Should be a great discussion.
This Sunday! (TODAY!)
3pm EDT | 7pm GMT
As usual, we joke a bit with our title. Radio is still alive and well! This week, we find out right from the source as we talk to +Shannon Hernandez, on-air radio personality from Station 98 KUPD in Arizona. But wait, there's more! Shannon isn't just some radio DJ, he's also quite an expert himself at marketing, and is currently the digital marketing specialist for Hernandez Family Law, as well as spending time coaching people on using Google+ in what little spare time he likely has (seems he puts good use to his degree in education!).

Get great insight and learn valuable lessons from experts like  +Ben Fisher, +Andrij Harasewych, +Kristoffer Howes+Ryan Crowe, +Dustin W. Stout, +Eric Enge+Mark Traphagen, and of course, our panel guest this week, +Shannon Hernandez!

All you need to do to gain access to the video is RSVP: YES! (You don't have to watch live if you can't make it, simply RSVP to take part in the great discussion afterwards! The video will always be available on YouTube.)

If you have watched before, please take a minute to review our show here, on IMDB:

In the event that you missed any of our previous episodes:

Keep us up and running and improving! Even $1 a month will help us keep giving you the communities and hangouts you want to see!

What time is the event? The event always shows the local time (dependent upon your own time zone) if you are on desktop, but if the event is viewed on a Mobile Device it unfortunately will NOT show your local time, but will show our local time. Be sure to check the math! We are at 3pm EDT = 7pm GMT

If you were invited to this event in error, please accept our humblest apologies. Leave a comment on the event page or email, and we will move you from the invite circles.

Miss the show today? We covered a bit of, well, everything in this show. Maybe someone can do us a huge favor and work up a timestamp list? :)
Pam Moore is Nuts About Marketing
What a great discussion today, between +Pam Moore, +Andrij Harasewych and +Ben Fisher. Not only did we learn a lot through the process, but we had a great time doing it. Be sure to follow Pam Moore right here on Google+, as I expect us to be seeing much more of her in days to come!

From Twitter tips, to building communities, to segues and sidetracks about philosophy, time-management, living in the moment, and hunting shows on TV, this is another show to add to the "Don't Miss" list!
