We launched Everything DiSC this past fall at our 4400-staff county government. It has really taken off with multiple requests for our training staff to present it to departments both small and large, to management teams, etc. We're using the online Workplace Profile.

We certainly don't want the DiSC training to become a 'one and done' - we want to keep it alive and support everyone with integrating DiSC into their day-to-day workplace activities. We do things like create the 'scatter-gram' for intact teams with all of their dots on the DiSC circle, color copy the DiSC circle onto card stock for posting in cubicles and bulletin boards. We are integrating DiSC information into two 1/2 day classes for admins (Customer Service and Effective Communication) and into the 1/2 day course for supervisors, Feedback Essentials

I am also working on launching pages on the Workforce Development web site to serve as a resource for ppl to support DiSC integration.

Any other ideas? What have you done?

It's a quick way for someone to review what they learned about DiSC and it makes the Comparison Report available without having to ask a facilitator to run one for you. So when someone new is onboarded, everyone in the team can see their own comparisons. It's accessible from your phone, so almost always available. It should also let people compare with people outside their own company and keep people interested if they have a friend or client who has also taken a DiSC assessment.

I hope that as MyEverythingDiSC gets more use and finding others gets easier, we'll find new ways to use it.

An activity you can use to help leaders talk more eloquently about their vision (or to develop their vision.)

What's your favorite way to begin a meeting? Is it by asking for agenda items? I doubt it. Here are a few ways to get teams warmed up.

Such a good question...
How are you encouraging better leadership and management training in your organizations or with your clients?

We updated our silly but informative Summer Activity Book. You can use it even if it's winter where you live. We added some new content and made it a bit less tacky.
This has been a popular download from our site since we created it over 3 years ago. I'm very curious about how people are using it. Please let us know.
We’ve updated our popular Everything DiSC Summer Activity Book. It’s full of quizzes and puzzles and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Can you write a better haiku than we did? Can you find your way through the maze? Save Save

How can you work with teams that scored low in trust (whether or not they have taken The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team assessment)?

What tactics have you used with distrustful teams?

Although written for The Leadership Challenge this activity around vision could be adapted as part of a Work of Leaders training.

How have you adapted the Day in the Life activity? Here's an example asking groups to break up by style and describe a trip they'd take as a group.

Training tips  -

I watched a facilitator last week and noticed two techniques she used.

She handed out small "gem" stones to anyone who asked a question or shared a comment. She walked over to them as they spoke and after responding to their question or comment she thanked them for sharing and for being a "gem."

After the distraction of dessert being placed on the bouquet table, she said, "I'm visualizing everyone moving back to their seats." She made her desire known without telling anyone what to do.

What are some of your favorite facilitation or training tricks of the trade?

During an online Everything DiSC Workplace certification program today, one of my classmates talked about this exercise, also known as the snowflake task. Here's another example: https://whitneyrebecca.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/team-building-paper-tear/

Anyone use it in their training?

Do your emails give a clue to your DiSC style? Do you write an email to a D-style the same way as to an S style?
How do you write an email to respond to the priorities of someone with a different DiSC style? Who likes an emoticon? Who can't stand them?

Sometimes we need a reminder that we don't all want the same type of treatment. For example, while none of us want a kick in the shins, some of us feel that same way about being in the spotlight.

We have infographics showing the characteristics of a DiSC D-style team, an S-style, etc. How will you use these?

This is an article from The Leadership Challenge about using it with Everything DiSC. Have you used the two products together for a leadership development program?

Working with a team experiencing low trust? Perhaps the real source of the problem is the leader. Leaders can spread distrust throughout an organization.
