Hi all,

I'm sitting in Kastraki, Greece overlooking Meteora (Google it - it's gorgeous!) and thinking about you all. I know that spring breaks tend to get in the way, but please let me know when you're all done with lesson 6 so we can put some closure on this course. :-) Have a great week!

Hi all!
As we move to lesson 6 (the last one!) I'd like you to keep a couple things in mind...

An invitation.
Shortly after you complete your work and feedback for the online course you will receive a certificate of attendance by email. If you would like to become a formally certified Level 1 Compass Practitioner you will have one final assignment (after lesson 6).... to share the story of how you've used the Compass Education tools in your context. If this is of interest to you please check below for more information. Also, if you have interest in taking the next steps towards becoming a Compass Education Trainer please let me know and I'll be happy to share more information for you.

Hi Laurence,

hope to complete the last lesson over this weekend and you could have it by the beginning of next week. I know I still owe you some replies to your comments, I'll try to work on that too.
Regarding the extra work, is there a specific time within it should be completed?, I would be interested in doing that and I would like to know the time available to submit it.
thank you
Mairet

Final Push

Hi all. With time having ticked away I want to remind you that, formally, the course is supposed to be ending soon. I am always open to providing extra time for those who need it (we all know how busy the life of an educator is) so let me know how I can best support you as we move through the last couple lessons. I look forward to continued great conversations!

Hi all,

I'm very sorry that the attempt to get together in real time didn't work for anyone other than Lucy. Mairet, I am especially sorry that we were not able to make the connection for you since you had gone so far to try to connect! But thank you so much for your effort!

This note is just to remind people that we've fallen a bit behind in terms of the coursework. As online courses move forward and the initial enthusiasm dissipates a bit this is a normal situation. I am personally not stressed about it, but did want to remind you to keep the work on your "to do" list. I'm hopeful that we can conclude the course in the next couple weeks as originally planned.

If I can do anything to support you please let me know. Have a great day/night!

Hi all,

I am in my office trying to establish a connection for our face-to-face. Hopefully we're all ready (Suji, I know you won't join us but hopefully Lucy and Mairet [and maybe Sandy]) can join in. I'll send a link in a couple minutes.

Hi all,

I think it's time we all tried to get together and talk about sustainability in schools a bit. What do you say? Would any or all of you be available on Saturday? It's probably the only day that we all have free (I work on Sunday's, I'm afraid) but I also realize that the time zones (13 hours?) are quite different. So it would probably have to be Saturday night in KL, afternoon in Dubai and morning in Havana. It doesn't have to work out this way... I can also do it in parts (KL and Havana separately) if this doesn't work out. What do you think?

Hi all,

I just got back from Nepal (what a great place with such beautiful people!) and will be taking the next day or two to catch up with your work. Expect some feedback by tomorrow. Also, now that I'm back I'll be sending you all a link to an online form so that we might be able to set up an optional face-to-face conversation and meet/reconnect for those who'd like to. I hope that' okay with everyone. Have a good week!

Hi all,

I forgot to mention that I will be on a week without walls trip from Feb. 17 to 24 in Nepal. It might be difficult for me to find internet connection while I am camping outside Chitwan National Park, but I'll try. :-) In the event that I am unable to provide feedback for that time period, please consider moving forward with your coursework. I'm guessing by that time lesson 2 should be completed and some might already be in lesson 3. Between now and then I will provide you with feedback for your lesson 1 in the next day. Look for my comments in your workbooks. :-) Have a great week!

Hi all,

finally, I'm on board. My name is Mairet Perez. I work as Biology teacher (IGCSE and IB programmes) at the International School of Havana. Renewable and non-renewable energy sources, greenhouse effect, ozone layer depletion, world food supplies, deforestation, all of them and many more are for sure topics we discuss in our classes. This year our school hosted a Compass level 1 workshop which I couldnot attent and now I saw the possibility of joining this online group to share about related topics. How to promote biological sustainability is an interesting idea students feel enthusiastic about. As I had shared before with Lawrence, I consider myself an optimistic and I look at all the changes we have had in the world which have made it a better place to live. Find a balance I think is our main challenge.
regards to all
